"It's ok. You don't have to love me," SeokJin said as he turned back on his heel and started to walk away. Away from her. Away from her fake love. She just stood, watching as SeokJin's figure started to fade as his love did too. Park Jiwoo fell on her knees as tears streamed down her face and her heart broke in pieces by seeing him go.
They were each other's everything until one decision made by Jiwoo changed everything. SeokJin loved her with his whole heart and she did too. At least she tried too.
It had all started on a rainy day when Jiwoo stood on balcony of her apartment, a cup of coffee in her hand, looking at the droplets of rain splatter on the ground. It always made her relax. As she was about to go in, Jiwoo spotted a tall figure leaning near a bakery that had shut down, probably waiting for the rain to stop. The guy's tall figure and broad shoulders had made him somewhat attractive to Jiwoo.
He needs help. He's shivering. Jiwoo thought as she saw the guy shivering in the cold rain. She put her cup away, grabbed two umbrellas, one for her and the other one for the guy shivering in the rain and dashed out of the apartment.
She reached down and saw him sneezing. Cute. She thought as she slowly approached him.
"Umm, hi. I am Park Jiwoo. I live in that apartment at the other side of the road. I saw you shivering from my balcony. I thought you would need an umbrella...You can return it tomorrow or whenever you want to," Jiwoo said as he looked at her with his pretty, brown eyes. "Uh, thank you so much..it's really sweet of you. I am Jin, by the way. Nice to meet you," he bowed and smiled sweetly at her after introducing himself. He said thank you once more and then left from there. The next day, Jiwoo stood on her balcony once more, her face shining brightly under the sunlight. Jiwoo had a feeling that he would come near the bakery once more. Jin would come. And he did. He stood near the same bakery that day, looked directly at Jiwoo and smiled. That smile made her heart flutter. Jiwoo smiled back and saw that same umbrella from yesterday, in Jin's hand.
She got out of her apartment and shyly approached him. "Hi, Jiwoo. Umm, your umbrella..," he awkwardly started. "Oh, yeah," Jiwoo shyly took the umbrella from his hand and the both of them stood there in awkward silence until Jin asked, "I was thinking if we could be friends and hang out if you are free now...are you?" Jiwoo didn't know what to say but didn't want to let go this opportunity. "Yea, sure," Jin's face lit up as Jiwoo agreed. "So..are you ready, now?" He waited for Jiwoo's answer as she thought about it, "Nope, just gimme two minutes. I'll be right back." With that Jiwoo rushed back into her apartment.
Oh god! Jiwoo thought as she rummaged through her closet to find something impressive. She quickly grabbed a pair of jeans and a tee with watermelons on it. She quickly changed into it, grabbed her sling purse, tossed a lipstick and some chewing gum in it and dashed out. And as expected, Jin patiently stood there waiting for her. They both made eye contact and smiled.
"Sooo..where are we going?" Jiwoo asked as they both walked on busy streets of Seoul. "I was thinking if we could go to a cafè and get know each other a bit more. Is it ok for you?" Jiwoo was so busy admiring Jin's beautiful features that she couldn't pay attention to what he said. She quickly snapped out of her thoughts. "Yea, ok," she turned her head away from him . She's so damn cute. Jin thought as he saw Jiwoo blush and look away.
They both reached the cafè and sat down at one of the tables in the corner. "What would you like, miss?" The waiter asked as he handed them the menus. Jiwoo looked at the card for some time and then finally settled for a vegetable sandwich. Jin had ordered a cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin.
"So, what do you do," Jin asked Jiwoo to break the silence. "I am still studying to become a graphical designer but I also work at a cafè for a part time job. What about you?" Jiwoo replied. By the time Jin answered, the waiter set the orders on their tables, "I am a kpop trainee. At a company called BigHit." Jiwoo replied as they started to eat, "Oh, that's great." Jin nodded and they proceeded to eat.
Jin and Jiwoo walked in the busy market after they finished their breakfast at the cafè. They had talked about each other and had shared similar interests like their love for food and cooking, favorite color being blue, favorite toy being super Mario and more. They even shared their number with each other.
Jin dropped Jiwoo at her apartment. Jiwoo shyly waved at Jin and he did too. Jiwoo went inside, closed the door and smiled to herself, thinking about Jin.
The next few days, Jin and Jiwoo texted each other, visited a park and enjoyed each other's company. Before they even knew, they both had started falling for each other.
