"Your late, hanging out with what's her name again?" I asked as I finished jotting down some last minute rhymes for this song I was working on.

"Shut up Marshall, I was just helping her with a production." Denaun said plopping down in a chair put his headphones on.

"Production..that's what we calling it now?" I smirked gaining a scoff from him as he began messing with the sound board.

"You finish the lyrics yet?" He asked.

"Man I might as well made a whole album waiting for your slow ass to come down." I said.

"When you gone find yourself a girl Marshall, if anybody should be getting in the game it should be you, how long it been dawg 7 years?" He asked shifting it back on me.

"Yeah whatever man i'm cool with playboy and redtube." I countered causing him to choke on some of the water he was chugging down.

"Bruh, that's why you be on the internet so much?" Denaun said genuinely surprised he even knew those websites existed, his older friend wasn't such a tech dinosaur as he had believed.

"Can we get this song done, or are we gonna talk about my dating life all night?" I said impatiently.

"I'm just saying dawg, you could have any girl you wanted, take advantage of that shit." Denaun said.

I nodded and I turned on the sound booth as we both became immersed in our projects.

-

"Yo, this sounds dope, wanna call it a night?" Denaun asked yawning in his chair.

"You can go, i'm gonna stay a bit more." I said as he nodded and stood up out of the chair.

"Alright, Night man." He said holding out his hand as we did our bro hug.

"Night." I said shooting him the peace sign as he walked out the door.

I sighed finally relaxing back in my chair, running my hands over my worn out eyes, it was never easy coming up with songs, but my fans would never believe that. I was glad that my Kamikaze album was well received, but this only left them wanting more.

And with that came more music videos, more photo shoots, and of course more interviews of people wanting to pry into my life.

I had been single for quite a while now, and I was well aware I could have anyone I wanted, all I had to do was basically say "Come here." and their clothes would fly off.

Back in the day that was more than appealing, D Cups girls, short dresses, bottles of Vodka, and glove compartments of condoms, was how you lived.

But now i'm 46, my girls are mostly grown, i've matured..

Sort of.

And more importantly I was sober now. Dating was a lot easier when the chick I was across from was just as wasted as I was. But now..I want someone who's equally as sober and levelheaded..(Well more level headed) as me.

And I wasn't sure, I could handle that, dating was designed for marriage, and did I want to get married again?

I wasn't sure.

I sighed standing up needing a break and I figured a red bull from the vending machine in the hall was a good place to start.

I began walking to the vending machine which was conveniently placed all the way at the very end of the building.

And took notice how no one was even left in the building, every door was shut, and every light was out.

Or so I thought.

As I got closer to the vending machine, I heard some piano playing growing louder and louder with every step I took. I had no idea I was even paying attention too it until I ended up passing the vending machine and trying to find the source of the music.

I soon reached this door that had the  lights on and it was slightly cracked opened, I could slightly hear singing at this point and it was beyond beautiful.

I know love has been a stranger to you
Maybe I'm the one to change it for you
Won't be easy 'cause lessons feel new
But the writing on the wall

Love is easy, easy
So don't you make it hard
Can't you see me, see me, see me?
Be easy with my heart
All we got is here and now
Why won't you let your guard down?
I'm just tryna show you how
Love is easy
So don't you make it hard

I opened the door and slowly walked in not wanting to disturb her or her singing.

I'll chase the wind, I'll face your dark
I'll make a wish upon your star
Although you're afraid, I'll be your heart
Just let my hands reach your scars

I know love has been a stranger to you
Maybe I'm the one to change it for you
Won't be easy 'cause lessons feel new
But the writing on the wall

She drifted out of the song and sat for a while, I don't know what made me speak out but I did.

"You write that?" I asked cutting the silence in the room.

She jumped backwards pressing some ugly piano notes on the keyboard as she quickly whipped around to face me in pure shock and embarrassment.

"Oh my God!" She gasped.

I chuckled, "Sorry I scared you." I apologized realizing this was the woman Denaun seemed to be infatuated with, I had no clue she was a singer though.

"No it's fine I-I had no clue anyone was still in the building." She nervously said.

"Did you write that?" I asked repeating my earlier question.

Her eyes widened but she nodded anyway, "Uh..yeah you see..i'm uhh..I uhh...Am a writer...and I uhh...sing and play piano sometimes." She nervously said refusing to make eye contact with me.

"Aren't you a intern?" I asked.

"Y-yeah...i'm like a secretary, I make calls to artist that you would like to reach out to them and such.." She answered.

"But you can sing." I asked curiously.

"Yeah..well...I'm kinda awkward, and have the stage presence of a Donald Duck after too much coffee.." She laughed nervously.

"Well...least your energetic." I said not sure how to respond to such a statement.

"Yeah well..." She awkwardly said.

"Well why did you come to Shady Records, i'm sure you didn't wanna be an intern forever." I asked seeing her mouth drop and she was beginning to nervously play with her hands.

"Uh..Well..Honestly?" She asked me.

"Yeah." I asked wondering why she felt she had to lie in the first place.

She looked down, biting her lip, and fidgeting with the drooping ends of her Cardigan she was wearing. I had never seen someone so anxious and pretty at the same time.

"Well..." She started off.

"Well?" I repeated looking at her curiously, she appeared to be in her mid or late 30's and yet her skittish and meek personality reminded me of that of a teenager, speaking in front of the class the first time. Scared of the popular girls, and her crush looking at her.

"I wanna marry you." She spat out.
