for jisung, school was a bore. it was hard for him to sit down in a one-hour class only to take notes and listen to tedious lectures about topics he barely thought would be useful for him in the future. he rarely paid attention in class, and never bothered to study for tests. because of his dispassion of school, he was one of the people at the bottom of the class. but he didn't care a single bit. the only thing he cared about was his crush, zhong chenle.

this day at school was just like any other. jisung sat down on his seat and lay his head on his crossed arm, preparing for his next class which was science. science was the class he hated the most because the only thing his teacher would do was talk and talk and talk about things he found uninteresting. when at last his class started, his teacher began his usual everyday 1-hour lecture. just like every other day, jisung was unengaged and bored. he was so bored that he decided to write in his diary, which was very private as it was full of his deep (and sometimes embarrassing) secrets. he knew it would be a bit childish and "girly" to own a diary, but writing in it was the only way he truly felt able to express his emotions.

jisung silently unzipped his bag which was leaning against the side of his desk and took out his diary.

"dear diary," jisung started jotting down on the beige, spiral-bound book.

"here i am, once again. i'm in science class right now, and i'm so bored. the teacher's going on and on about... well, i don't even know, and i don't even care. this little book is the only thing keeping me alive at school. oh, and chenle. he sits beside me in science class which gives me a perfect view of him. wow, i sound like such a creep hahaaa".

"park jisung!" the teacher said sternly which made the boy look up.

"y-yes?" he muttered.

"so tell me, why does saturn have rings?"

"because god liked it, so he put a ring on it?"

the whole class burst into laughing fits, including chenle, which made jisung happy inside because he loved seeing his smile.

jisung's teacher shook his head in dismay. "not funny, jisung."

"sorry."

"sorry isn't enough. you're failing this class, and it's time for a change."

jisung's teacher scanned the classroom with his beady eyes and exclaimed, "chenle! you're the top of the class. would you be so kind as to tutor jisung?"

the smile on chenle's face which was the afthermath of jisung's joke had suddenly faded.

"i-i'm sorry, but to teach someone as dumb as jisung-"

the whole class laughed again. only this time, it wasn't with him, but at him.

jisung felt his cheeks go a light shade of pink. his head felt hot, and he was very embarrassed. but he was more hurt at the fact that chenle had insulted him, even though he knew very well that he was dumb.

the only thing he could do in a situation like this was to bring the hood of his hoodie over his head and lay his head on his desk, with his linked arms resting on top of his head.

"i'll give you extra credits," jisung heard his teacher say.

"okay, deal!"
