"So are you going to tell me what happened and why you're being weird?" I knew something like this would happen soon. I mean I'm not the only vampire in the world, maybe not even in this town but if they're after Kenzie for some bizarre reason then they will have to kill me first. The second I found her in the woods I knew that something was wrong - she just wouldn't tell me. Me, the only person that can protect her.

"There are more vampires that live here. At least two a girl and a guy. I was walking home when this girl attacked me so I screamed and she was biting my neck and I was in pain. I could feel the blood being pulled up my veins to her mouth. But then this guy came out of nowhere and pulled her off me and bit his own wrist before shoving it in my mouth. It was like my neck didn't hurt anymore and when I looked it was completely healed. He told me to go home and to forget what I saw so I walked away pretending to do what he said and then i found you but i had no idea where he was or is right now. Her either."

This is bad. If there are other vampires here then that means that they could feed on the locals or on humans which means Kenzie. What if they lose control and no one is there to stop them? What if they find out that she can't be compelled? What if they kill her?

"Okay, pack your stuff we're going to leave right now." That's the only way to deal with this. We move so that they don't find us, or most importantly Kenzie. We've been lucky during her lifetime, I mean this is her first encounter with a vampire that isn't me.

"No." I turn around and check her temperature just to make sure that she's feeling alright. We have to leave, she knows that. "Stop it I'm fine but I don't want to leave. I don't want to be scared every time we find someone like you. I mean you're a vampire that's going to live forever, but I'm human and I want a normal life. You said you could give me that."

"I can but I don't want you to die, can you understand that?" She's being stupid right now, if we run then she can finish high school and most importantly stay alive, I mean we don't know who these people are or what they want. "Most vampires kill or feed on humans, they don't have control. What if you're just a human they kill?"

"But the guy stopped her, he gave her a blood bag. They're like you but maybe she's just new. I mean didn't you have to learn control, what if she's just still learning?" I sometimes hate how determined Kenzie can be when she wants something. She can take all the reasons you present her and twist them to her own advantage. That makes it incredibly hard to knock some sense in her. "Just one more week. One week and if they do something else then we leave, but if they don't then we stay."

"So this is where we keep Brandon." Johnny explains. He still hasn't looked at me since he left last night but after talking with Brynn it seems he got there just in time. She still hasn't killed somebody at least. She still has that innocence. "Tonight Carson and I will lock him up in here where he'll turn into a werewolf. A werewolf bite will kill a vampire, so stay away from here tonight. He can't tell the difference between us and other vampires and humans, so he'll kill you if you get to close."

"But it's only once a month he's like this, all the others he's Brandon. Just stay away during a full moon." I reassure her before Johnny scares the life out of her. Brynn nods and smiles as Johnny leads her back upstairs. She seems to be adjusting well, considering she died and now craves blood.

"Ready to go?" He asks as he grabs his school bag and I grab mine. Brynn grabs hers and I look at her confused. "Lauren, Brynn is coming with us because she's mastered her blood lust plus she will never learn unless we let her out." Huh?

"I'm sorry but wasn't it only last night when she almost killed a human if it wasn't for you! Are you sure this is a good idea?"

"I don't want to feed off people if it means some people might die. I won't feed on people at all, just bags." Johnny looks at me smugly before they leave and I huff following them.

"You know the guilt that comes with almost killing someone, it puts some vampires off it forever  because they don't want to be murderers. And if she's not ready then we'll lock her up, I have an injection of vervaine ready to go just in case. But you know full well this is how they learn to control it. From experience."

----

"And you know the regret she'll feel for the rest of her immortal life if she does kill someone and it'll be your fault." She states walking off to catch up with Brynn. Of course, Lauren goes to the dramatics just to prove her point.

As soon as we get to school, Annie walks off with the other two and I go to find the guys that left me this morning. "Why'd you guys leave this morning?" I don't like secrets and I don't like liars, that's why Lauren's gone through so many friends through her lifetime, because as soon as they find out they betray us and I deal with them. Brynn can't keep a secret to save her life so if she slips up so greatly that I have to kill her to protect us, I'll do that. Brandon and Carson know this, which is why I hope they're not trying to cross me.

"We had to get chains for tonight so that someone won't try to kill us and then we went to McDonalds before school." But I've known these guys for decades and I don't think they would do that.
