"Mom we're leaving." Caleb yelled. Mom was asleep, or passed out drunk. We weren't sure.
"She'll figure it out." I told Caleb as he walked to his car. I was about to get in when he said, "You should probably take your car, I'm staying after school for practice." I nodded and walked to my own car, pulling my keys out of my bag.
I slid into my car and breathed in the newer smell. Caleb's car smelled like dirt and sweat. Baseball of course, but still disgusting. Hayley left with Caleb and I followed. At school we all went our separate ways.
I was about to walk into the building to avoid the strong wind when I heard Jayden yelling for me. I turned around and watched her run up the stairs, I was about to turn around when I saw a busted up pick up truck stop in the back of the parking lot, Asher got out and looked like he was yelling at the woman driving, then he slammed the door shut. He angrily began walking out way.
I smiled at Jayden and said, "Let's go inside." She nodded and we walked to our lockers.
School was finally over, Jayden was coming home with me and we were going to her locker to grab her bag. She was ahead of me and she turned around to talk to me before walking into someone. He almost fell, Jayden did fall. She looked up at him in disgust saying, "Oh my god can you not knock people over." before realizing who it was. Her face fell and she quietly said, "sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
Asher, wearing dark clothes, black jeans, boots, and an AC/DC shirt. His lip twitched and I saw the knife next to his side. I instantly stood in front of Jayden and whispered to the boy, "Put the knife up."
He looked down at his hand, the hall was mostly cleared out now, he slowly raised his hand, then quickly he grabbed the back of my head and held the knife close to my neck. I smiled and held back a giggle as I said, "Do it. Please."
He looked around to see people stopping on their way out to watch. He put the knife away, keeping a grip on the back of my head, and mumbled, "This isn't over bitch."
"Bye Asher." I said as he walked away. I turned around and stuck my hand out for Jayden to grab. She looked shocked. "What was that Annie?" She asked looking behind me to make sure Asher wasn't coming back. I tilted my head and asked, "What, I was making sure you didn't get hurt." She shook her head and said, "You were being bad ass."
We got into my car and Ariana Grande started playing Jayden laughed as I sang, "Fuck you, next!" Instead of thank you, next. Mostly because I hated my ex. Hayden Summerall. Cheater, player, and liar. I wasted two years of my life with him. We picked up Hayley, my language becoming much more clean.
When we got to my house Jayden and I ran to my room, mom was already at work or a bar. Hayley plopped on the couch. Soon Caleb walked in with Armani at his side. Jayden almost drooled over my brothers best friend. He smiled at her. I think I heard her heart beat.
"I heard you were being a dumbass at school." Caleb said closing my door behind him. I nodded and turned the romance on the tv to a comedy movie. "I can't believe you Annie, I've told you a thousand times that Asher is dangerous."
"No he's not Caleb." I said crossing my arms. He's never hurt anyone, well not for no reason.
"Annie he almost killed Brennan last summer." He said in defense of his friend. I looked up at him and said, "Brennan pinched him in the face and told him to go fuck himself."
"Do you like him or something?" Caleb asked. I scoffed and said, "Yeah I really like the guy that held a knife to my neck."
"He did what?" Caleb yelled. I rolled my eyes and said, "I'm fine, he was just trying to scare me."
Jayden piped in and said, "He scared me, I almost pissed myself." Armani laughed and Caleb just sighed. The Jayden continued, "Annie was just trying to stand up for me Caleb, you know she's a good person and can't help herself, but she's also crazy because she literally asked him to slit her throat." I hit her arm and she slapped a hand over her mouth.
She can't help it. Loose lips was her nickname in middle school.
"Annie are you crazy? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" He asked. I shook my head and said, "No, but he wouldn't do it, he's just trying to scare people, he's not actually that bad of a person, he's not a good person, but he's not as awful as he seems."
Caleb opened my door and yelled for Hayley to come to my room. She showed up and Caleb told her everything. She look very shocked.
"Annie please don't go near him, what if you're wrong and he hurts you?" She warned me. I smiled and said, "I can handle myself Hay." Hayley nodded and said, "Your bad ass but you aren't that bad ass." Caleb almost gasped as he said, "Hayley you're too young to use those words." She rolled her eyes at our older brother. Armani day next to me and said, "I know you don't think he's that bad but Annie, he's constantly getting in trouble for selling drugs, doing drugs, drinking, he almost hit someone with his motorcycle while drunk, and he's just not a good guy. He's selfish." I nodded and told him, "I'm gonna be fine."
"Oh my god Anns, you aren't listening to any of us. He's a bad guy." Jayden added. I rolled my eyes and said, "Okay."
Finally everyone but Jayden left my room. The boys went downstairs to play video games. They told us they were ordering pizza. Hayley was in her room getting ready to leave in an hour for a sleepover.
Jayden hugged me and said, "I forgot to say thank you for standing up for me." I hugged her back and said, "Anytime Jay."
