"John!" a voice cut me off from my thoughts.
"Uh, yeah?" I reply and look at the person who called me.
"It's almost your birthday, three days from now" Angelica, my co-worker, says and a smile forms on my lips.
"Yeah" I reply shortly.
"And, you and your boyfriend's anniversary" she grins while wiggling her brows.
I just let out a chuckle at what she said.
"So, do you have plans on that day?" she asks as she ate her meal.
"I don't know with Alex yet. Why?" I drink my tea as she looks at me.
"Just wanted to celebrate with you on your birthday" she let out a smile and continued eating.
"I'll go ask Alex now" I say then I take my phone out.
I ring him but he didn't answer.
I ring him thrice again but he still didn't answer.
Well that's, unusual.

I then put my phone back in my pocket, and finish my tea.
"Thea, should we go together back to the office?" I ask Angelica and she looks up at me.
"If you're fine with it, I still need to buy something outside the building" she says and I nod.
"Sure, no problem. I'll just go with you outside, I think I also need to buy something" I say and I waited for her to finish eating.
After a couple of minutes I checked my phone to see if Alex has replied already.
"I'm done! Let's go now?" Angelica says and I put my phone back in my pocket.
"Let's go" I give her a short smile.
"Is something wrong? Alex?" she asks as we went out the building.
"Yep, he hasn't replied yet, It's also their lunch break this time. It's unusual" I say as we walk.
We are now in a store for office supplies to get the things we need.
As I walk to the aisle of the papers I see someone familiar across the store, too familiar.
Alex?
He's with a girl.
Eliza?
Well, that's surprising.
I watch them carefully and I see them being happy. I feel my heart break.
"Hey, isn't that Eliza?" I hear Angelica's happy voice beside me.
"Oh yeah" I pretend like I didn't know.
"She's with... Alex?" Angelica looks at me and I just smile.
A sad smile.
I came in the apartment a bit late from work.
As I open the door, it's utterly quiet.
"Alex?" I yell and I just hear my voice echo in the room.
"Alex?" I say again as I try to find him every space and corner in the room.
"He's never been this late" I say to myself and I just decide to change into comfortable clothes.
I lie down on the couch and hear my phone ring.
