Trees are pretty strong, all things considered. When you think of plants, you think of weak little fückers you can rip out of the ground with your hands. But trees are plants, and trees usually can't just be torn from the ground. Trees are stubborn and rooted and focused. Trees get the job done.
I consider myself a tree. It might seem arrogant, but I pride myself on being able to follow through on my intentions. Nothing will prise me from my ground. I'm strong.
You see, most people aren't trees. Or the frail little plants that come to mind either. Most people are somewhere in the middle, like stalks, or maybe corn. You need to put in a little effort to get rid of them.
My father thinks it's dangerous that I'm a tree. He thinks I need to show more emotion and be more empathetic. I think that's complete bullshït. I'm emotional enough without it getting in the way of my objectives.
The school councillor thinks I should try to be more of a flower, although she didn't word it like that. She wants me to have more "character" and "compassion". But flowers are weak, and defenseless, and naïve.
Everyone thinks me being a tree is a coping mechanism. I've heard them talking about it. They think I wasn't a tree before her passing but that's not true. I've always been a tree. I just covered myself in flowers before it happened.
I like being a tree, but other people don't like my oaky nature. The other kids in my class (the weeds of them anyway) think trees are weird. They think words and punches and kicks will turn a tree into a flower. But that's not how trees work, because they're strong. Weeds, however, are easy to destroy, if you have the tools.
Which is why, after much deliberation, I have decided to used a herbicide to get rid of the weeds. Maybe a few flowers too, if I have to. Because I'll do anything to destroy those fücking weeds, and stop them from breaking me down.
Maybe by tomorrow night I'll be with her, among the leaves. Guess we'll see how herbicides work on trees like me.

Just a little thing I wrote, trying to work on writing about thoughts. Also, even though this is a pretty specific metaphor, it's entirely fictional. Don't report me. ;)
