I actually discovered that entire musical this month, and after digging into the context of it, I'm appalled by how almost nobody is aware of The Lavender Scare. Entire lives were ruined because of people's sexuality, and the laws against homosexuals working for the US government were only amended in 1995. That is only twenty five years ago and absolutely terrible.
But, even though this is a comedy, I just love how expectations were subverted and how well this issue is dealt with through subtext and text- it's just truly a good show, and is available online, for free, professionally recorded (I'm not sure if anyone has a problem against Bootlegs) on Tin Can Bros.
