DAY 3
A song that makes you cry.
Stay Alive (Reprise) from Hamilton.
-
Okay, I feel the need to explain why this subconsciously makes so many of us cry- I asked ShiptheOutlawQueen , by the way, if you were wondering why I actually sound smart.
So in Take a Break when Eliza and Philip are at the piano singing through the numbers in French, once they reach 7, Eliza continues on the same key whilst Philip modulates it - changing the line. This is actually representational: Eliza is staying safe within the 'protection' of the song and society and Philip his dream of rising up like his dad.
Then in Blow Us All Away, he dies on the number seven, which shows how his chance was grow up was taken from him. It's entirely symbolic, not historic. It shows how Alexander and Philip's traits were intertwined and kind of hints at the ending of the play too.
Finally in Stay Alive (Reprise) Philip dies after '6' and at this stage he has gone from starting to rise up into the key of '7' to truly having his future and hopes decimated with his death.
I think I kind of confused the Blow Us All Away description, but hopefully this makes sense. But, yeah, that's why we all cry at it.

De TodoI just felt like it. There will be a lot of Authors Notes. I like musicals so I can already tell they'll be a lot of them.
