CHAPTER 5

Your head was aching, badly. You had always wondered how bad of a headache your mom had when that coffin fell on her head, well.. now you know..

With a groan and a whine as you endure the pain, you open your eyes a little, and all you saw black, pitch, black.

Is this is it? Is this the afterlife your parents had always been bragging about? Well if it is you sure are extremely disappointed, no pretty clouds, no 'angel's bridge', no heavenly lights, nothing.

As you sat up in disappointment, you had notice a part of your body was... red?

Oh, there was a light emitting from the other side.

As you turn your head towards the source of the light, you furrowed your eyebrows when you are met with your own soul, gleaming and floating with all its presence.

Realization hits a bit late in your brain and your eyes widen, you patted your chest only to feel a void inside.

Ah.. so it is your soul..

Standing up, you tumbled a bit as the ache in your head did not stop it's painful pulses. Wincing, you reached out and grasped your soul with all your might and pulled it back.

Wake. A voice boomed across the void, scaring you as you jumped.

"Huh..!?!"

Wake up Y/n, you've got a whole adventure waiting for you.

Speechless, you swallowed the lump in your throat that you hadn't even know that you were holding

Pushing your soul against your chest you took a deep breath and closed your eyes.

Whatever is happening, it freaked you out, you just want everything to go back to normal.. hell, all you wanted to do was to do the dumb project..!!

"Haah....!!!" You gasped yourself awake finally gaining consciousness, if it didn't felt like you were out of breath, you totally are now, you felt like you had run a whole marathon! Your lungs desperately grabbed for oxygen while your chest rised up and back down rapidly.

Finally getting your breathing back on track, you realized that the painful ache on your head that once bugged you is now gone.

"Oh god.." you sat up and looked around your surroundings. It took you a minute to realize that...

This is NOT Hometown.

The walls were a rather dull dark blue, scratched and rugged marks dragged across the worn walls, it seems like you landed in an alleyway of some sort.

Then, scanning the area around you, you hear the distant sounds of a bustling busy street, it sounded like you are in some big city..

Curiously, you walked out of the alleyway to hopefully find more information about your whereabouts.

Well, for starters, it absolutely is a city, but the sky, it's... so dark, like it's night.. brimming with more confusion in your mind you look down to think for a bit.

To only realize you are not in the clothes you wore today.

"What in the...?!" Your eyes widen in surprise and look at yourself, you look like you came out of some kind of.. gacha anime game..!!

You dawned at your.. battle suit..? The questions in your head keep popping up, and it might as well let it be never ending.

"Hoo okay Y/n, just.. gotta find Berdly and Noelle.. gotta find them.." rilling yourself up to cope and calm you down from the overwhelming questions you were asking yourself out of pure anxiety, you started to walk your way in the bustling streets of this.. dark world.

Your eyes traversed around the city, it was so busy.. so.. technological..? Huh.. if this was a dream, it has to be one of the most nicest ones you had in a while..

Walking further, you saw a monster  standing in front of a shop with blue skin and a blue turtle neck accompanied with a black coat and green pants, his face displayed a relaxed and calm expression.

You mustered up the courage and walk up to him, he notices your approach and sent you a closed-eyed yet calm smile.

"Hey..! We are addisons, all we do is advertise.. and this is an advertisement too..! Advertisements only for 9.99$..!" He spoke in a rather fast pace, it was fast, but his voice remained smooth and all but not too loud.

Talk about muscle memory.

"H-hey.. just wondering, have you seen two particular monsters...? a deer? Blondie, and a seemingly nerdy blue bird..?" You asked, the addison only furrowed his eyebrows whilst maintaining the same smile.

"I'm afraid not, sincerest apologies.." with all hope lost, you fall and balled up beside him, sitting on the rather cold pavement.

"Oh jeez... what am i gonna now..??" You mumble to yourself, the anxiety inside you starts to bubble up even worse, you can even feel it burn in your chest.

The addison beside you notices your little breakdown and started to empathize.

Kneeling down beside you he slowly wraps an arm around your back "Hey, it's okay... it'll be okay.." he attempts to calm you down, taking deep breaths you steady your breathing, with your mind starting to be at ease, the blue addison stretched out a small smile.

"I heard... that there are more lightners like you that just came down, maybe they're your friends..?" Hearing this information, you removed your hands from your face and looked at the monster.

'So they are here..!' It was no mistake, those 'more lightners' had to be both Berdly and Noelle.

"Really..?" You squeaked out, the addison nods in confirmation and it was enough to determine you once again.

"Okay... okay..! I'm.. gonna go find them!!" You exclaimed, standing up from your fetal position and balled up your fists.

But that determination quickly died down by the questions that still lingered in your mind, your once ecstatic face quickly fell to an unsure one, your eyes sticking onto the pavements once more.

You click your tongue and folded your arms "But how am i even gonna find them when i don't even know where i am???" You asked, the monster beside you raised a brow and looked at you confusingly.

"You're at Cyberworld.."

"Cyber-what??"

And cues the explanation from the darkner that you didn't know you even needed. From what a dark world is, and how it works, to the kind of darkners and lightners.

Safe to say that you tried to consider his explanation as some kind of fairytale, but at this point you just couldn't care less anymore, he seems like the most reliable person you have met for the past 40..? 50 minutes, so... beggars can't be choosers right?

With finally enough information received, you thank the addison and start your journey to find your two best friends...? ..friends...?

...

Acquaintances. Your acquaintances.

Just didn't feel right calling them friends just yet.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: ok first of all, i would like to formally apologize for not updating in like.. forever, i think you all catch the wind that i only update when i feel like it, explaining the really slow updates.. but neither the less, my interest in deltarune doesn't really dissappear, it's more like.. flame that's died down and its just waiting for more wood so it could light up into a big fire again ykwim?? its just the lack of content that finds me leaving the book to be neglected, as i find no motivation to really update it. I'll stop my rambling from here, and i'll see you all in the next chapter!!
