The day I met Roman Hall was the day I got my acceptance letter from Harvard.
My father had just come back to inform me on my achievement and then left to do some business with a new client of his. I remember feeling so sad.
He had enough time, to drive an hour just to tell me I had been accepted, yet he couldn't be there during my own high school graduation ceremony... And I was Valedictorian. It seems that everything I do is never enough for him.
A couple minutes after he left, I grabbed my car keys and went to the local coffee shop. Father didn't like it however, and practically forbade me to drink. But seeing that he wasn't even there 99% of the time, he had no say.
Besides, its not like he would ever find out. This was like my own guilty pleasure. I secretly felt like a badass whenever I drank it. I know, that's pretty sad coming from a eighteen year old girl, but I was taught to be careful of the unknown... And not drink anything besides water and juice.
Though, there have been close calls, like when I went to McDonalds. I had poured my drink from the dispenser and by accident I had gotten Sprite. Thankfully, my uncle was there and he quickly took it from me.
I had just arrived at the coffee shop, immediately ordering a mocha frappé. Those things were to die for.
I was in a hurry though, my Uncle J had just texted me, telling me to hurry over to his house so that I could share my great news that I hadn't told him.
I remember running outside because there weren't any cars zooming past at the moment and my car was on the other side of the street.
I thought that since there wasn't any cars before, there wouldn't be any cars now. Oh how wrong I was.
The moment I was right in the middle of the street, a cherry red Jeep was speeding towards me. I remember not being able to move, frozen in shock. I mean, this was a ten miles per hour speed limit area and this guy was pulling at least twenty.
My eyes were wide in both shock and fear. I could hear the brakes squealing and the car bumped into me, knocking me to the ground and spilling my frappé all over the ground.
The guy who had been driving the jeep, rushed to my aid and pulled me up, his hands running all over me, making sure I had no injuries. I don't know why he was fussing, he bumped into me, not commit a hit and run.
Between the ringing in my ears and the pesky, annoying voice of the guy who almost made me into a pancake, I did the unthinkable.
I fainted.
