Tears
The only thing Beomgyu remembers of that day.

It was nothing more or less than a usual day. He got up as usual at 6:30am, he brushed his teeth, combed his almost too long hair, he ate his usual breakfast of boiled eggs and toast. What would he expect?

After walking home from school, the moment he stepped foot into the house, a strange tingle had already appeared in the atmosphere.

His beautiful omega mother, his horrible stepfather. They both sat next to the coffee table, staring at him.

Uneasy was an understatement, it was definitely not usual for them to even spare one too long of a glance at Beomgyu, and now they're staring.

Did he do something wrong? Did they discover that he had actually forgotten to do his maths homework yesterday and told the teacher that he left it in his stepdads car? Surely it wouldn't inflict this grand of a response, they would just scold him and send him off to the bedroom where he would then study until dinner. What went wrong?

"I'm home...I'll be going upstairs now." Beomgyu spoke with uncertainty. And as he step foot towards his desired sanctuary of a room, he was interrupted.

"Young man, we need to talk." It was his stepfather, "It's about your secondary gender."

The voice of a high class alpha immediately made Beomgyu stop in his tracks, unloading itself like tonnes of rocks as the boy struggles against the urge to get on his knees. An instinct which, although is common amongst young children, was definitely unusual for 12 year old soon-to-be Alphas.

"Right...What about it? I'm an alpha, right? As the doctors predicted?" Beomgyu shifted uncomfortably.

"Beomgyu honey, we're not sure why... it may be a mistake, but..." This time it was his mother, speaking in an usual soft and gentle tone, this time betraying a hint of uncertainty and stress.

"Did I say you could speak?" His stepdad snapped, fist colliding with the glass coffee table as his explosive pheromones filled the room. Beomgyu could only watch as his mother bowed her head down submissively, mumbling apologies.

Oh how he wanted to stand up against his shitty stepdad, protecting his mother so that she would never be snapped at again. He anticipated becoming stronger, then leaving this glorified prison of a mansion.

Beomgyu would make sure he was a powerful and reliable, yet gentle alpha, taking care of his omega as they see their family grow.

However, life often enjoys toying with you.

"It says on this report, you're an omega."

Beomgyu felt his knees go weak as he quickly rushed to also look at the files. He was in obvious disbelief, what were the fucking odds?

The future which held many promises, it was all gone.

"That is my toy, let go of it now you thief!'

Kai tiredly smiles as his little brother lands yet another smack on his head, he thinks, I need to be a good big brother.

He wasn't complaining at all, in fact, there were so many things to be grateful for. He had parents who sheltered him, and not many kids from the orphanage had such a privilege of being adopted.

The pair were both betas, with low fertility capabilities. However, they had always yearned for the experience of raising a child.

One day, as if God heard their wishes, they saw Kai playing in the orphanage sandpit.

The pair of beta cared for Kai like he was their own, placing him in the centre of all their love's showering.

However, life often enjoys toying with you.

Kai's mother had become pregnant, a pleasant surprise for the family. The young boy anticipated his sibling every day, ear against his mother's eventually bulging abdomen, listening for who was going to be the arrival of much joy.

He was wrong.

The expected happiness did not come. Instead, 10 years old Kai had learnt the word; disappointment.

When exactly? He did not remember.

Perhaps it was when his parents took his favourite stuffed animal which he had received for his birthday last year, and gave it to his little brother who threw it away without a thought.

Or perhaps it was when he fell ill and his parents to told him to walk it off, only for them to turn around the next minute and worry for his sibling who coughed once.

He swallowed it all, too scared to voice his distress.

It was enough, Kai told himself, you have no reason to be upset.

He just wished he could be someone's priority, for once.
