Nathan
"How much longer?" I shouted out to the photographer, whom was taking a never ending cycle of photos, each time angling the camera and her body contorted in a new pose. I was becoming agitated standing in one place for so long. Holding in several curse words whenever the phrase "smile for me," or "turn this way," was commanded, even though I tried my best to cooperate.
This was not my forte but somehow my ridiculous wife was so insistent on me doing this, almost whining that I need to think about our image, for the sake of the company. Little did she know, that's all that crossed my mind...
"I have you for five more minutes," she spoke. Thank God, I sang in my mind. "And then you're free to run along and be a stuffy, tired businessman!" She Added snidely with a chuckle and that was the a straw that pushed me. Knowing that I had an interview shortly after regarding some magazine, I stepped out of set and proceeded to take my exit.
"Hey, I was just only kidding." I heard her belt out behind me, still muttering something else I didnt catch. I walked past my wife, sitting in a directors chair cozying up with one of the journalist she'd introduced me to earlier. Nothing about the image bother me and this lack of emotion to the matter, only made it easier to leave.
The man finally noticing me pass, perks up from the corner of my eye, quickly shrugs off my wife's body leaning against his and gestures for her to look my way. I didn't take her long to realize that I was on my way out.
"Nate, where are you going?" She shouted up from the seat. I continued on without a word. "Babe we still have the interview, you need to get changed!" She sounded anxious now and the sound of her heels clicking quickened.
"What else does it look like? I'm leaving."
"You can't right now. We aren't finished." She grabbed my arm before I could press the button to call the elevator. There was a firm tug and she managed to roughly turn my body to face her. "Nate, we had an agreement!" Her tone changed, sounding more abrasive. I let out a heavy sigh and looked up to the ceiling in search for an answer on how to get out of this, because I damn sure wasn't going to finish this shoot. I just need to double down and go before I lost my cool but also keep my wife from losing hers in the process. She was an extreme basket-case, ready to blow once things didn't go her way.
"I am done for today. There's just no way I will continue on with these people." I leaned in to inform her.
"Listen Babe, I get it. You're used to calling the shots, not the other way around... And frankly I find it childish that you can't muster up your frustrations and leave them outside!" Here we go, I thought. "This isn't just a board meeting you can walk out of when you're pissed at everyone... I ... Look." I could tell she was beginning to tick.
"I get it." I interjected before she could go on. "YOU want to wrap things up and that's fair, but I, have better things to do then to spend my time with that obscene animal inside a woman's body and your boy toy journalist." I almost yelled.
"Will you keep your voice down?" She placed her a finger to her lip. I ignored her altogether.
"You want to save face, then be my guest." She didn't bat an eye. "Fucking reschedule." I threw my arm up and she loosened grip.
"Fine!" She yelled, "do whatever you want but you better be back here when I send you the details."
Without another word, I turned to the call the elevator and waited. She remained there as well, her feet tapping against the floor excessively, enveloping the quietness. It was all I could focus on since the studio's activeness was so faint in the other room... She knew how to push my buttons all too well.
