Job opening

The clicking of newly polished shoes clicked against the shiny flooring. The man. Dark haired. Piercing blue eyes that other wise may have had women and men alike falling at his knees. Out of desire. Not from pleading to not be ended.

The man wore a suit. As he approahed the dark oak door infront of him he ran his fingers through his already messed up hair.
Was he nervous? Him. Noway.

Stepping up to the door he took the door handle in his hand firmly and turned it slowly.

His name? Marcus Pang.

The door opened with a creaking noise as if worn down instead of brand new.

The man at the end of the big metting table held a glass to his lips.  A red liquid filled it to maybe half a cup. A wheezing noise came from the man as Marcus stepped into the room closing the door behind him.

"David,  you make me look dishonorable. Stop wasting yourself away. " The husked voice of Marcus spoke to the man at the end of the table.

"Marcus.. Man.. I cant.. She.. " David started. Quickly cut off by Marcus walking over to him with a disappointed look on his face. Marcus grabbed the cup from David's hand as he went to take another drink. David whined.

Marcus growled lowly at his friend sitting in the large office chair that clearly didnt look right.

Marcus walked to the other side of the table and sat the cup down far from his friend.

Stepping back over to take a seat next to David he began speaking.
"Whats your plan?" Marcus asked in a firm voice not expecting a very well thought plan.

"I dont know man.. I just need her back.." David sighed and Marcus began to get impaitent. If Beth were his wife he wouldve done had her back by now. But Marcus wasnt into Beth and of course he had been their best man at the couples wedding.

Not to mention Marcus wanted to be feared. Not loved. Marcus stood up.
"You have exactly one day until I return. And if you're still wasteing yourself away. I plan on putting a bullet through that thick skull of yours. " Harsh? Yes. But do you really think he cared?

Marcus began walking towards the door as David went deep into thought. If he died he wouldnt have Beth back. So he had to come up with something.

Stepping out of David's office Marcus started towards the stairs. Sense all elevators didnt seem to work.

Hurrying down the stairs Marcus traveled out the compaies front door and outside. The air burning his lungs as the scent of flames was breathed in. The roads could barely be called roads. Just messes of cement and turned over burning cars.

The bright sky was clouded with grey clouds. Was it humanitys fault that the world was hardly a world? Maybe. Most animals had died off. Due to hard to breathe oxygen.

What did they eat? Whatever they could find. With little oxygen it meant hard to find plants. The world seemed to be dying,  not just the habitiants. Money and weapons were all people cared about.

Marcus began walking down the 'road' no traffic came. As far as this area knew. The whole world was like this.

A bullet zoomed past Marcus's face. Pulling out his gun he quickly loaded it and aimed in the direction of which the bullet had come from. To find nobody. He growled in defeat but stayed on high alert.

His gun in his hand he continued stareing in the direction of the bullet as if the person would just suddenly appear.

To Marcus's dismay the person didnt.  A soft grunt of dissatisfation escaped his lips as he turned to continue walking.

The rest of the walk back to his own home was quiet. Which was usual due to not many humans being around.

But this quiet was the quietness of those toddlers who are never quiet in such a way and you get this feeling that something is very very wrong.

Marcus ignored it taking out his key to the building. It was a small two story building. Though he lived alone. He didnt mind the small area.
Slipping the key into the lock and turning it the satisfying click sounded and the door unlocked. Pushing it in Marcus went directly to his room closing the door behind him.

He needed the scent of alcahol off of him. He grabbed some clothes from his closet and turned to his bathroom door stripping and turning on the water not waiting for it to heat up he stepped in.

Washing himself and then his hair he grabbed a towel from the rank next to the shower and wrapped it around his waist.

Drying himself off he quickly shaved the small hairs begining to form as facial hair and then got dressed. In once again another nice suit. He had to met with the big man later today. So looking his best was needed if he wanted another job.

Not like he'd be turned down anyway. Nobody had the guts to even look him in the eyes.. Well except David while he was drunk.

Marcus stepped out of the bathroom and flipped the light off.

Walking into the kicthen on his way he turned the t.v on listening to the news broad cast.

"The air is still rather damaged things seem to only be getting worse by the day. Wolves were seen moving on along our east border. We will try our best to keep you updated as all this comes along" The news director lady spoke. I made myself something to eat while I wanted for the time to be right to leave.

The devil himself couldnt say no to Marcus. Even if he was already dead.

Every walk of life seemed to fear him... As far as anybody knew. Without any body to say other wise it became very easy for him to become top dog.
