As I arrive at the eye-shop thousands of thoughts run through my mind. Every single conversation I ever had with him echos in my head. All things I said about him, everything Mim said about him. Everything.
My head's about to explode as I open the door and step into the shop.
For a felt eternity I stand there without doing anything. Suddenly a voice interrupts the silence inside my head.
"Hello, how can I help you?" A middle-aged woman asks friendly. "Um, one of your colleagues advised me the last few times I was here. I need new glasses so yea" I stutter. "Do you know his name, then I can look if he's here." The woman says. "Actually I don't".
This makes me giggle. I don't even know his name. The woman gives me a confused, but still friendly look. Apparently people know the names of their opticians.
But I don't. Anyway not yet.
"Well, how does he look then?" She asks. She sounds insecure.
Great. I make people insecure, but whatever. I need to see him now.
"He has dark brown hair and... um... he's quite young" I explain. I don't want to be too detailed because that would be a bit weird I guess. "Ah, I know who you mean" the woman's face lightens up in relief. "Come with me" she says and walks through the shop.
The nervousness that was gone for a few minutes returns suddenly. "There you go" the woman says friendly and gives me a smile. "Thank you" I say and smile back.
There he stands, already looking at me. I feel how my blood runs through my veins. I must look like a tomato. He smiles at me which makes me smile too. "Hello" he says friendly and takes a few steps towards me. "Hey" I answer quietly. He smirks.
"So you're here because of your new glasses right? I feel like the decision is really hard."
"Yes, actually I have no idea what frame I should chose" I answer. He gives me a smile again "Well, have a seat first. I'll advise you and I promise we'll find a frame that fits perfectly to you."
He walks behind his desk and sits down. I sit down too. Now we're sitting opposite one another. He opens a drawer and takes out a few frames. We already drawed up a short list the last times I was here. "I still kinda prefer this one" I say and point on a brown frame. "It's kinda vintage, but I like stuff like that" I explain.
"Actually that's always been my favourite" he smiles. I smile back. I take the frame and put it on.
"A bit nerdy" I giggle. "I like nerdy" he smirks.
He just insinuated that he likes me.
I smile. "Well, okay I'll take this one then...um we shouldn't loose too much time and order the glasses" I say. He nods and starts writing things on a sheet of paper.
He wants to know a few things about me like my adress, my telephone number and my name of course. 'He knows my name now' I think.
He leans forward in my direction. He takes the frame from my face and puts it in a small bag together with the sheet. "Fine, then we're done now" he says slowly. We stand up and shake hands.
'Go Zoe, ask him now. You promised Mim. Do it!'
Exactly as I want to say something he does. "
Um... I know this is weird" he stutters "but I wanted to ask you out"
Wow. What? Did he just ask me out? Oh my.
I feel how everything in my body is going crazy. I feel my heart beating. I feel how my legs get wobbly. I'm about to go insane. This can't be real.
"I knew it was a bad idea to ask you." He says.
I wince. "No, no I was just vaguely surprised to be honest"
"So would you go out with me?" He asks. "Yes, of course" I answer,
trying to sound calm and acting as if it wasn't a big deal for me, but inside my head, oh lord. Inside I'm bursting with joy. In my stomach a real firework starts sparkling.
"I'd like to take you to a little Italian restaurant, if that's okay for you?"
"Yea, sounds nice." I say with a huge smile on my face.
"Well, then allow me to introduce myself properly. My name is David. I'm 22 years old and it'd be a pleasure for me to spend some more time with you" he says with a huge goofy smile on his face.
He makes me laugh so I start giggling. "My name's Zoe, as you know" I say "I'm 17 years old and I'm looking forward to seeing you again".
He has a huge smile on his face as he looks in my eyes. His eyes are sparkling. He looks down at me while I stare on his smile. I bite my lip. This can't be real. This is too beautiful to be real.
He looks in my eyes again. After a short moment of silent 'in-eachothers-eyes-staring' he takes his mobile out of his pocket.
"May I have your number? Then I can call you so we can decide on the day"
"Yea, of course" I say.
He gives me his mobile phone and I type in my number.
I see how he saves me in his contacts as 'Zoe<3'. That makes me smile. "I'll call you tonight" David says. I nod.
Then I walk towards the door and leave the shop.
As I'm outside I take a quick look back and see how David's gazing at me. I smirk, trying not to get a huge goofy smile on my face.
Then I walk to the bus stop.
David, his name is David. David. That name runs through my mind a thousand times.
He asked me out. HE. This is still too beautiful to be real. This can't be real. I'm the happiest girl on earth if this is real. I feel like flying while walking.
If this feeling is love, than I never want to feel something else again.
