"Here's your guild's meeting room, the rest of the guild are already here."
The teacher's calm voice jolted Zack out of his attempt to block everything out. He'd been doing it since his mother had driven through the gate. Now that he was back in reality, fear hit him. How was he supposed to react to them? He nodded politely at the teacher. Walking through the open door, he was met with mixed feelings.
Some smiled at him, others simply nodded. The most concerning was the occasional stare, which sent a ripple of fear through him, making him bow his head and stare at the floor between his feet. Once the introductions were over, Zack headed for the seat by the back of the window. Once he got to the seat, he looked up to see someone sitting in the seat. Turning back around, Zack started to look for a more secluded place.
"Dude, it's fine. Take the seat."
Zack turned around to see a pair of brown eyes staring right at him. Zack took a moment to take in this guy's appearance. Straight blue hair to his shoulders. Black leather jacket. Black jeans. Very.....dark. Zack nodded his appreciation before moving to the now vacant seat. Once he sat down, he realised how fast his heart was beating. Why? Maybe he should apologise for taking the seat. Zack looked towards the guy.
"Name's Alex, by the way."
Zack nodded at the guy, struggling to form a reply.
"T-t-t-thanks."
The words trembled slightly, showing just how nervous Zack was. Movement to the right caught his eye, distracting him. Before he knew it, blue eyes dominated his vision. He moved back, nervousness fuelling his actions.
"Yep, he wants the D. Alex! New guy wants the D. Specifically, yours."
Muffled laughter echoed through the room while Zack looked around, confused. He looked back towards the person who'd just spoken. The eyes motioned downwards, towards an extended hand.
"Max. Anime fan. Drummer. Genius. Nice to meetcha'. "
Zack grasped the hand in his own. A quick shake and lessons began. Zack blanked it out, he didn't care about any of it. Every time he tried to focus, he started to picture Alex's eyes.
-Idiot! You've only just met this guy, and you're picturing him!? Why? What's going on?
The hours seemed to fly by. Zack still couldn't focus, even by the time the bell rang, signifying the end of the school day. Soon, he was ushered to a line of taxis. Once he got home, his mother opened the door and waved him in. As Zack expected, he was soon bombarded with questions.
Eventually, he was in his room, staring at the wall. All in all, it had been an okay day. A ray of sunlight shot across his room. He ran his hand through it, wondering why he kept thinking about Zack. Sighing, he decided to just distract himself from it. Switching on the console, he played until midnight. He switched it off, lied back and closed his eyes, hoping to forget about the confusing thoughts that had plagued him. After a while, darkness creeper past his thoughts and overcame him.
