Me and my brothers were outside a gas station.

Sam was sitting in the passenger seat, checking his phone.

I was in the backseat.

Dean was in the driver seat. "All right. I figure we'd hit Tucumcari by lunch, then head south, hit Bisbee by midnight." Sam wasn't listening. "Sam wears women's underwear."

"I knew it," I told them.

"I'm listening," Sam told us. "I'm just busy."

"Busy doing what?" I asked.

"Reading emails," Sam answered.

Dean got out of the car, closing the door behind him. "Emails from who?"

"From my friends at Stanford," Sam answered.

"You're kidding," Dean told him. "You still keep in touch with your college buddies?"

"Why not?" Sam asked.

Dean started to get gas. "Well... what exactly do you tell them, you know, about where you been, what you been doing?"

"I tell them I'm on a road trip with my big brother and little sister," Sam answered. "I tell them I needed some time off after Jessica."

Dean leaned against the car next to us on the outside. "Well, so you lie to them."

"No," Sam told us. "I just don't tell them everything."

"Yeah," Dean told him. "That's called lying."

"Hey, telling the truth is far worse," I pointed out.

"Scar, shut up," Dean told me.

"No, she doesn't have to shut up, Dean," Sam told him. I smirked smugly. "So what am I supposed to do, just cut everybody out of my life?" Dean shrugged. "You're serious?"

"Look, it sucks," Dean told him. "But in a job like this, you can't get close to people."

"You're kind of antisocial," Sam told him. "You know that?"

"Yeah, whatever," Dean told us.

Sam read another one of his emails. "God."

"What?" I asked.

"This email from this girl Rebecca Warren, one of those friends of mine," Sam answered.

I leaned closer to read the email.

say they have dna, fingerprints, all kinds of evidence...

he didn't do it!!

this all feels so unreal.

just thought you'd like to know.

"Is she hot?" Dean asked.

Sam ignored him. "I went to school with her and her brother Zach. She says Zach's been charged with murder. He's been arrested for killing his girlfriend. Rebecca says he didn't do it, but it sounds like the cops have a pretty good case."

"Dude, what kind of people you hanging out with?" Dean asked.

I tilted my head.

"No, guys," Sam told us. "I know Zach. He's no killer."

"Well, maybe you know Zach as well as he knows you," Dean told him.

"They're in St. Louis," Sam told us. "We're going."

Dean chuckled. "I'm sorry about your buddy, okay? But this does not sound like our kind of problem."

"It is our problem," Sam told us. "They're my friends."
