Maribeth groaned, fidgeting with the edge of the light pink cast that was wrapped on her arm. Her wrist was broken badly, and she was not happy about it. In white sharpie were mottoes she had written to try to make herself feel better about the whole situation.
"Maribeth! Your teacher wanted to ask if you'd be okay if they entered your mini clothing line into the Regional Fashion Battle!" Her mother called up to her. Maribeth and Dylan had submitted their clothing to the teacher and ended up getting an A+. Now the teachers wanted the clothing line to go further.
"Let me just call Dylan. Can he come over?"
"We're going over to the Shantom residence tonight so you can stay the night anyways. I have a meeting in Paris and Ana is going to Jamaica with her parents for all of Christmas break. I'll have one of the maids pack your bags. You go do your homework." Maribeth heard her mother call from her office. Maribeth had finished her homework for her 2-week break, so she ended up falling asleep on her couch.
^^A few hours later...^^
Maribeth awoke to the sound of an action movie. She couldn't recognize her surroundings, so she began to panic. Her breathing increased, her heart raced, her palms became sweaty, she felt a hand on her shoulder- wait, what?
She turned to see Dylan, a concerned glint in his eyes and a worried frown covered his lips.
"Maribeth? Are you ok?" He asked.
"Yeah...but where am I?" She asked shakily.
"My house. You were fast asleep at your house so they brought you here while you were still asleep since they felt it was best to let you sleep. Your belongings are in the guest bedroom."
Maribeth looked at her surroundings once more and remembered the very familiar living room. She stood up at the smell of much food. Dylan and Maribeth looked at each other with excitement and bolted into the dining room, where many chefs lined the walls. In the center of the table was a centerpiece filled with avocados and white flowers. An odd combination, but a pretty look. She sat down next to Dylan as his parents and siblings came in, but then a certain ginger entered.
"Dylan and Maribeth, I'd like you to meet Kaleb Bryce. He's a model and actor from New York and he'll be staying with us tonight." Mrs. Shantom explained. Both teens looked surprised to see the ginger teen, but both for many different reasons.
"Kaleb!" Maribeth exclaimed, running up and hugging him. He hugged back with a smile. Once they pulled away Kaleb spoke up.
"I'm gonna help organize data in the main computers then hopefully spend some time with Maribeth." He said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. Maribeth giggled, causing Dylan to rage with fury internally, clenching his fists. He couldn't take it. He hated the fact that Maribeth was so happy with Kaleb. Why couldn't it be him making her happy? Dylan stormed out, finding himself in his family library. The bookshelves seemed to calm him. He smiled at the variety of colors, series, and collections. Maybe he should go there more often. Maybe one day he'd be with Maribeth. Maybe one day he'll read his children stories in the vast library, but everything happens for a reason...Sorry this is short!! Next chapter is out in a few days.
