---Jacob's POV---

I was happy that Paige was safe and sound back home and that I could hold her in my arms. My wolf was begging me not to let her go while I stared over Paige's shoulder towards my parents. My whole world was being held upside down at the moment.

First Paige was called to retrieve my sister from the hunters, while she was just human. She disappeared into the forest and I wasn't allowed to go after my own mate. Eventually we heard a wolf's howl and Alexis was sitting outside next to the new she-wolf.

I had been worried sick about Paige while everyone was hugging that wolf and Alexis before Alex called my name. My anger was slowly rising while my wolf was on the surface, ready to strike. Before I could lash out however, I felt the touch of my mate spreading across my leg.

The emotions that flooded through me were too quick to pick up and they left me confused. Love, Relief, anger, surprise.... The last sensation stayed with me because I was horrified of my own actions.

Paige never had been human! I had rejected her, thinking that she was human while she was.... something else. But she could change into a wolf as well and it was beautiful. My mind was still jumping between the moment she touched me and when she changed back into her human form.

I sat down, pulling Paige with me and glared at my parents. Paige tried to wriggle out of my grasp but I pulled her closer to my chest while I shook my head. "I need to hold you Paige, I need to keep my wolf calm." I looked in her eyes when she looked at me to see if I was lying.

She snorted and shifted back in her wolf form while she stated "Don't you think for one moment that I forgave everything and gonna sit on your lap like a good little mate." She growled through the mind link before she curled up against me, her head resting on my legs.

Taking several deep breaths to calm down, I kept looking at her brown wolf-form while she looked at my shaking hands, the tense muscles of my arms before she looked up at me. I calmed down slowly until I could finally unclench my fists.

Paige shot me a wolfy grin, letting her tongue hang out while chuckled lowly. "Feeling better now?" she asked in a teasing voice. I smirked at her when a plan shot through my head and my wolf agreed the split second before we changed.

She looked up, slightly shocked before she started to crawl back up. My wolf immediately took control and I pushed her down, forcing her to lay down with me. I placed my front leg over her back while I sighed in contentment. But it didn't last long.

---Paige's POV---

I could understand that Jacob needed to have physical contact right now; I understand that his wolf needs to be reassured. But that doesn't mean that he can just push me around like his wolf pleases.

Jumping up, I growled warningly while I snapped at his paw that dangled over my shoulder. The others scrambled on their feet while Jacob and I were standing opposite each other, staring the other down. Why would he want to lay down with me when he ignored me for several weeks at a time?

Luke was looking from me to Jacob and you could tell who he looked at from his facial expression; an appreciative smile when he looked at me while Jacob received a glare that promised retaliation against any indiscretions.

Nick on the other hand was trying to calm us down, speaking in a soothing voice "Easy Jacob, let her understand for a moment." Jacob just growled in response, raising the fur on his back to look bigger. For a moment I stared at his wolf, impressed by his looks.

It was a copy of my own wolf; only his back was more tainted with black and grey hairs. While my nose and cheeks had a creamy color, Jacob's wolf had a pure white mask on his face. And being a male, he was bigger than me, especially now.
