The New Year had started out with some difficulty. Jaan, unfortunately, had to undergo eye surgery a few days before. The operation was successful, they had removed the bandages and he was home recuperating. However, the doctors had advised rest and restricted activity for a week. He was not to strain his eyes at all. That meant no TV, video games, laptops or cell phones. He could not exercise, be in direct sunlight, bend over or lift anything. Anyone who knows Jaan Divit knows that trying to keep him still is like trying to contain a toddler in a play pen. There was nothing to distract him, and he was getting antsy with the pain.

It physically hurt Sanem to see her beloved husband struggling with such a combination of boredom and pain. Even though they were home and together, Jaan was not able to relax.

After a few days of watching Jaan pace around the house with unspent energy an idea came to Sanem. To keep him distracted, Sanem decided to call her family over to their home for the evening. Maybe his spirits would be lifted if he had something good food prepared by her mother and some time spent enjoying the antics of her crazy family.

Meikebe and Nihat gladly accepted her invitation to come over for dinner. Meikebe truly enjoyed being able to spoil her son-in-law to her heart's content.

Sanem adored the relationship Jaan had with her mother. It warmed her heart to see them interact so lovingly towards each other, even after all these time she and Jaan have been together. Although they did have a bad habit of ganging up on her. Sanem felt lucky she could fight fire with fire by always having her dad on her side. Her Baba would always stand by her, no matter what and it made for some interesting family get-together.

Jaan was definitely feeling the frustration and anxiety of being cooped up. He was so used to being busy all the time with some activity, campaign or project that he did not know what to do with himself. Staying idle was never a skill he had been able to master. He was not heavily addicted to technology, but he loved his exercise routines and with this operation, he could not even go out for a run. Sitting in one place without being able to do anything was getting on his last nerve. Even his beloved wife was doing everything she could to ease his discomfort.

With a sigh he gets up again and starts to wander the house. Jaan checked on Sanem to see if she needed any help. He loved his girl, but cooking was not exactly her forte. On entering the kitchen, he didn't even get a word out before Sanem turned her sad eyes on him.

"Aşkım, please go and rest your eyes." Sanem said quietly as she walked over to him and laced their fingers together, concern etched in every corner of her beautiful face. Sanem knew she wasn't playing fair but Jaan would never refuse her anything.

Jaan tipped his head up to the ceiling briefly as he played with her fingers. He knew she was manipulating him to rest. He should find this annoying, not endearing. With anyone else he would simply glare and continue doing what he wanted. However, when it came to his wife, he could always expect to have a completely opposite reaction.

Luckily, it was not long before the doorbell rang and Nihat baba and Meikebe arrived. Sanem's parents made their presence known from the moment they walked through the front door. Meikebe immediately started to fuss over Jaan, giving him hugs and kisses and making disapproving noises at how he was not resting. Nihat automatically moved forward to hug Sanem. He then patted Jaan on the back affectionately before going to turn on the television to watch the football match while dinner was being prepared. Meikebe instantly stops him with one look and instantly Nihat turns towards the radio.

Jaan has always found it amusing that all Meikebe has to do is look at Nihat a certain way and he understands her so clearly. However, her looks scared even him at times. He is glad that this time around, he is not the one getting Meikeve's crazy eyes!
