Man Down

As the police arrived at the park, people were running rapid and screaming.

Victoria did her best to comfort her daughter Keisha.

Keisha laid in her mother's arms and sobbed uncontrollably. "Lord please let him be okay. I don't know what I'll do without him. He's been the only constant in my life lately. You just gave him to me, so please don't take him away now."

As the paramedics began to lift Anthony onto the stretcher, Victoria instructed Keisha to get into the car so they could follow the ambulance to the hospital.

Keisha refused to get into the car because she wanted to ride with Anthony.

I refuse to leave his side, she screamed. The paramedic informed Keisha that she could not ride with Anthony because she wasn't immediate family. Keisha stood there looking dazed and pained.

I'll drive you directly behind the ambulance, Victoria told her.

Keisha finally gave in and got into the car with her mom. She cried the entire ride to the hospital. She began to question why so many bad things happened to her. She wondered was she cursed from the day she was born.

The ambulance pulled into Save A Life Hospital and began to roll Anthony into the emergency room. We have a victim who has been shot. He has three gun shot wounds. One to the torso, one to the arm, and one that appears to be on the spine the paramedic called out.

The ER physician began to work on Anthony's wounds. He asked the ER nurse to make sure that Anthony remained covered to prevent hypothermia. The doctor washed his hands and put on his gloves. As he pulled the cover off of the patient, his face turned blood red and his eyes welled up with tears.

"Dr. Tatum are you okay?" , asked one of the nurses.

Yes, I'm fine he replied, snapping out of his trance. Let's began a shock treatment and put some pressure on those other wounds. I refuse to lose my son this way, he said.

Everyone looked at Dr. Tatum as if he had two heads. We need to call another physician in, one of the nurses suggested.

I will not allow anyone else to operate on my son. I'm very capable of doing this. There is only one other set of hands that I trust my son's life in and I'm not ready for him to go to God just yet. God is the only other physician I will let operate on him. So now get back to your positions and do as I instruct you.

I can't believe I let you trick me into getting you pregnant. I've lost everything. I've lost my wife and my daughter. I've lost everyone that actually meant something to me. How could I be so stupid?

Cedric you have definitely lost your mind, Shelly said. You can sit there and put all the blame on me if you want to but let me remind you that I didn't rape you. You willingly put your dick inside of me. As a matter of fact, you came to my house without me calling you over. So now you tell me who's to blame. All I did was show you the buffet and you pulled out a chair and sat down and ate. As a matter of fact, you were kind of greedy because you went back for seconds. So please save all of that bullcrap that you're talking.

Shut the hell up Shelly! You knew exactly what you were doing when you came into my office naked trying to seduce me. I don't want any parts of you or your baby. So please get out of my office.

Did you just say my baby? I know you've lost your damn mind. No matter how you look at it, this is our baby and we will raise him. You don't have a choice in the matter. You can help me or I'll make your life a living hell Cedric.

Like I said Shelly, I'm not doing anything for that little rugrat that you are carrying. I never wanted a child with you. You should have protected yourself. You knew what you were doing. That's your baby and your responsibility. If you decide to keep it, don't ask me for anything.

You're so fucking full of shit Cedric. Do you really think you denying my child is going to make Carmen want your ass? Carmen has finally gotten fed up with all of your mess and she has moved on. It wouldn't surprise me if she was already prepared to be remarried. Why do you think she wasn't sleeping with you? Your little miss goody two shoes was busting down for someone else.

Cedric back handed Shelby so fast you could see her eyes spinning.

Shut up Shelby! He yelled. I'm so sick of your mouth. You have always tried to make Carmen out to be the whore that you are. She would never do anything like that to me. She loves me. She's just upset with me right now. I know she will come back.

Shelby looked up at Cedric with pain lacing her eyes. You keep telling yourself that shit. Remember she was my best friend. I know her secrets. All of them. I know exactly what she's capable of. Just like you think she'll be running back to you, I know you'll end up running back to me and our child.
