This is actually super cringey and I hate it, but I wanted to try something new with my 3rd person narration and I've been watching a bunch of crime shows the past week or so. I know little to none of this is accurate, I was just in a writing mood
"You are Mr. David Kamier, correct?" the investigator began his interrogation, his voice monotonous and dry.
"Yes," David answered with an equally as boring tone. His black hair was messed heavily, and he was wearing a stained white tee shirt with jeans. It seems as if he had recently been through a great amount of emotional pain, but that was only what it seemed to be. David only wanted them to believe he was in distress.
"Mr. Kamier, when was the last time you saw Mr. Gerald Patrick?" the investigator looked David in the eyes as he asked the question.
David answered quickly, as if he had been thinking about the last time he saw Gerald nonstop, as if he was almost obsessing over the loss of the loss of his brother, "Christmas, my uncle's Christmas party." He had seen Gerald there, so at least that part was true. It was February now, and it a little over two months of time had passed since the party.
"Do you remember Gerald acting strangely at the party?"
"Strangely? No," David shook his head in false disbelief.
"Would've you described Gerald as vulnerable, Mr. Kamier?"
David stays silent for a little, thinking about the question and how his answer would affect him. Then, he answers with one word in a hushed tone, "Yes."
"Why would he be vulnerable, David?"
"He never liked disappointing people, and he would do anything to make people happy. Someone could use him just like Sarah had," David had purposely mentioned Sarah's name to distract the attention from him and to possibly bring in a new suspect.
"Who's this Sarah?"
"Gerald's ex, from maybe uh... 4, 5 years ago. Definitely used him more than he knew," David clarified.
"Who broke up with who?"
"He broke up with her," David answered. His annoying and wimpy brother eventually had the guts to cut the ties with his abuser, and most of the family was proud of him for it when it finally occurred.
"Was she angry?"
"Furious."
The investigator was quiet for a while as he examined David, looking at him closely with his eyebrows slightly pushed towards each other.
Finally, he spoke, "David, did you kill Gerald Patrick?"
In his mind, David was frozen- for he had never been asked that question- but physically he was perfectly stable. He uttered in 'disbelief', "No, I'd never even think of it." It may have been a lie, but the inspector nodded in approval, oblivious to the perfectly stable murderer before him.
