Daniels pov  (hA, y'all thought you were going to get another Emma chapter 👀)

It's been 3 weeks since anyone has last heard of Emma. We had gone to the police, and they looked for her, but nothing was found.

They eventually gave up, but we didn't.

We never did.

We thought we would have found her by now, but we haven't, and the hardest part is coming up.

The boys and I are at the airport, currently getting some Starbucks.

I'm going to Portland, but not as a group.

I need to be the one who tells her mom. How I told her mom that I would protect her when we were younger, and I failed.

Tears threatened to fall as I thought about all the things I want to do with Emma, and how much I love her.

——

I get off the plane, and took a deep breath. A sense of homesickness washed over me, and my stomach tensed up.

Walking over to the baggage claim felt like it took forever, even if it only took a couple minutes.

I ordered my Uber, and waited for it to stop by the front of the airport.

Within minutes, I had gotten into the car, and was heading over to my house.

I look at the door and sigh. What will I tell my family? They all love Emma, and will be heartbroken.

I feel a tear roll down my cheek as I knock on the door.

Anna opens the door, and my bags drop from my hands to the ground.

I give her the biggest hug, and try and pretend like everything is going to be ok.

I look over her shoulder and see my mom. Worry washed over her face as she came and hugged both of us.

I take my bags and throw them inside.

"Before I tell you anything, you guys should sit down" I say, while heading to the couch.

——

My hands were shaking as I stand in front of the second door today that I had dreaded. I looked down to see the handprints that Emma and I had planted in the cement when they were building her house.

We thought we were going to get in trouble, but her mom was fully supportive of it, and wrote our names by the hands.

Time slowed as my hand reached up and knocked on the door.

9 second had passed before the door handle clicked open. A smile shone on her face at the sight of me.

Emma's mom basically pulled me into the house, and handed me a cookie that she had baked earlier.

The thought of eating made be sick, and I set it on the coffee table near by.

Her face dropped and looked around.

"Where's Emma?"
