As the sun rose upon the Plume Forest, a loud cry of a Chikural sounded. It was the cry to alert the forest Chikural to wake up and prepare for today's festivities.

"Big bro wake up!~ It's time to get up!~" A  young female Chikural excitedly said, jumping up and down in her big brother's room.

"Let me sleep for a little longer...." The older male Chikural said groggily to his younger sister. Today was the day his little sister gets to take part in the Ceremony.

When Chikurals reach a certain age, they can go looking for a job that they are interested in a different part of the continent. Chikurals have the choice to take part in the Ceremony or to skip over it and wait till the next Ceremony comes around.

However, the male Chikural had a bad feeling about this year's Ceremony. He didn't know why, but his gut was telling him to keep his sister from attending the Ceremony. He hasn't opened up his eyes yet, pretending to still be asleep.

"Come on Henry!!! Wake up!" The young female practically yelled his ear. "I want to get to the Ceremony early! So wake up!!" She yelled once more into her older brother's ear.

"I'm awake. Please quiet down. The neighbors might still be sleeping and you'll wake them up. I don't want to deal with them squawking my ears off. They might just end up clawing feathers off of you for ruining their sleep." 'Henry' said to his younger sister.

Henry was the oldest of his family, taking care of his little sister since the accident. His feathers were a very dark brown, almost black. There were hints of green within his tail and tail feathers. His wings are dark brown as well. However, there was a lighter brown color near the bottom side of his wings. His eyes are dark brown, almost black.

Him and his sister never participated in the Ceremony ever since their parents death. Their parents went missing a few years back after the Ceremony.

There were guards who had surrounded the area, preventing most of the Chikural from seeing the bodies. Henry's curiosity got the best of him, doing what he could to get through the crowd of Chikurals.

However, what he saw was the gruesome scene of his parents corpses. His father's corpse was missing his tail feathers, an eye, lower half of his beak. His father had a bloody hole where his heart should be yet it was gone.

His mother's corpse was worse than his deceased father. She was missing her front right leg, both eyes, her tail was gone as well. Even her bloody skull and ribs could be seen.

That was one memory he couldn't forget. It had burned within his mind, forever leaving him tragically scarred.

Ever since that day, he prevented himself and his younger sister from ever going to a Ceremony in fear of that happening to him or his sister.

However, today was different for them both. It is the day his sister hatched and same day of the Ceremony. He wouldn't be able to stop her from going and participating in the Ceremony.
