When chloe got to the hospital max was taken into surgery asap, chloe was a mess she couldn't believe what just happened her best friend who she hasn't seen or talked to in years jumped in front of a bullet for her, chloe went to the bathroom to wash her blood-covered hands she didn't want to leave the hospital until she knew if max was gonna be all right.
Chloe took out her phone and called Joyce "hey honey what's up" "mom?" chloe said quietly "chloe what's wrong are you okay you sound upset" "mom its max she got shot I'm at the hospital right now " " is max okay?" "I don't know mom she's in surgery right now" "okay I'm on my way see you soon"
20 minutes later, Joyce arrives at the hospital and finds Chloe walking in circles she looks so worried "Chloe has there been any more news" Chloe stops pacing and looks at Joyce "oh hey mom no there isn't any more news yet " just then a doctor walks up to them
"Hi I'm doctor Ruby are you max's parent?" the doctor asks " no but I'm her legal guardian in case you can't get ahold of max's parents " Joyce replies
"Max is in bad shape we have her stabilized for now but she isn't out of the woods yet we will keep an eye on her overnight, but for now I suggest you two go home and get some rest I'll contact you in the morning".
Joyce turns to Chloe" okay Chloe let's go home" Chloe replies "no I want to stay here with max I want to be there when she wakes up" "Chloe I really think you should go home and-" "no I'm staying here with max no one will talk me out of this" Chloe interrupts
Hearing this ruby and Joyce give in "okay I'll be back in the morning with food from 2 whales bye" "bye mom"
Joyce leaves and the doctor gets paged so she goes to max's room she sees max is still asleep so she sits down on a chair beside the bed "you know I'm still kinda mad at you for abandoning me for five years, and a part of me wished you were dead before today but now that you came so close to death I can't believe that I wished that, I don't know what I'd ever do without you max you are my first mate after all"
" and I hope that we can continue where we left off and be best friends again because I miss you max" and after saying that Chloe fell asleep with her head in max's lap.
