(Josie's POV)
I woke up on the last day of summer vacation in my grandparents lake house feeling drowsy and a little nauseous. I rested in my bed for several hours, looking out the window and dreading the next day. I was extremely anxious to see her again, to finally talk to her after a couple of months with absolutely no contact with her. Although, I was thinking about her the whole time, in fact, I  think I spent the majority my summer thinking of her.
"Penelope Park" I said to myself, "Perfect in every way possible, gorgeous eyes, beautiful hair, an irresistible smile, and the most attractive girl in school. Not only that but she is extremely kind and thoughtful."
My stomach began growling. I went down to the kitchen to prepare myself some breakfast.
Avocado toast with an egg on top, my personal favorite.
Lizzie came rushing down urging me to help her get ready. She was leaving home for a few days to go to a far away bayou and help some young witches learn more about using their powers.
I didn't quite understand why she was leaving right before school began to do something that she could do any other day.
She told me that the witches really needed help and she had already volunteered to instruct them.
I honestly thought she was just trying to avoid going back to school and getting back on schedule.
It was already 1:45pm when I finished eating breakfast so I decided to go for a walk around the lake. I took a quick shower while listening to some calming music, and couldn't get the thought of Penelope out of my head. She dominated almost all my thoughts and I couldn't do anything about it, but it's not like I disliked that. When I finished my shower, I dried myself up and grabbed a pair of shorts, a white linen shirt, my phone, and my earphones. Right before I left, I heard Lizzie say: "Josie! Aren't you going to help me pack? I'm leaving in a few hours and I haven't even begun packing!"
I sighed and said "Alright I guess I picked help you out for a few minutes"
...
We spent almost two hours packing and it was already 4:00pm. I still wanted to go out for a walk around the lake but I was quite tired from the inconvenience. However, I was really glad I was able to aid Lizzie, I always enjoy assisting her with whatever she needs.
I was finally able to  go out and get some fresh air, I grabbed all my things and headed out the door.
I waked around and listened to my favorite songs, some reminded me of Penelope. I sat down near the water and put my feet in. It was really cold so I decided to do a quick spell to warm the water up. I sat back and watched the birds and the trees. It was beautiful and I was really going to miss it. I watched the sun set for around an hour and I had a great time.
...
I returned back to the lake house only to see Lizzie rushing out the door to say goodbye to me and our father as she was just about to leave. I gave her a big hug and told her that I'll see her in three days. I'm really going to miss her but on the other hand, I'm quite glad I don't have to worry about helping her get things done for a while, even though it's always a pleasure to make her happy.
...
My father and I left the lake house to go back to the Salvatore School at around 8:00 pm hoping to arrive there in an hour. I was really excited I to see all my friends again but most importantly, I was looking forward to seeing Penelope.
We arrived home much later than we expected, the main road was closed down and it took a while for us to find another route.
It was 10:30 pm when we got there and I wasn't surprised that I didn't see anyone as we entered the school. I assumed all my friends were getting ready for bed to get a good night's sleep before the first day. I thought I should be doing that as well, so I said goodnight to my father and quickly went to my room to get changed.
I took a quick shower again just to cleanse myself and wore my pajamas. I missed sleeping in my bed so I was pretty excited to go to sleep.
I still could not get Penelope out of my head. I missed her and I couldn't wait to see her.
