Chapter 12 – Born Villain
Marilyn turned the door handle and let the door creak open, revealing a flight of dark stairs; Marilyn’s heart freezing in horror as he looked down into the room. There, , in the dim light of the room, he saw Winter cowering against the far wall…eyes wide with terror as she stared up at the man from her dreams… holding a glinting knife… standing in front of her…
Marilyn saw red and ran to her aid, no longer caring about that he knew of her dreams. No… he would create his own fate here tonight.

Winter let out a strangled cry or both relief and terror as she saw Marilyn bounding down the stairs towards her attacker; horrified at the thought of having to live out this part of her dream.
Winter heard Marilyn yell, charging at her attacker as he turned around, but the sound was muffled; everything happening in the slow motion that all bad dreams move in…and she almost felt as though she was losing her mind as she watched Marilyn leap down the stairs and struggle with the dark figure, punching him in the face over and over until he went down and then rush to her side.
Winter felt a scream catch in her throat as she saw Marilyn kneeling above her…and, just like in her dream, the dark figure behind him stood up again, watching them he lifted the knife above his head and then plunged the knife towards Marilyn, laughing cruelly.
“No,” Winter felt a tear trail down her cheek as she made her decision. “Not this time.” Winter shoved Marilyn aside, throwing herself into the path of the knife as both men let out a shocked cry. Winter gasped, her gaze fixed in the middle distance as the glinting blade of the knife disappearing into her side and Marilyn fell to the floor.
Winter’s eyes found Marilyn’s as her knees buckled under her and she tumbled onto the cold, wet cement of the floor. Though Winter’s vision faded as she went into shock, she saw Marilyn get up and stalk towards her attacker; smashing the guys’ head against the wall until she heard the crunch of bone and felt someone kneel beside her.
“Winter…it’s Twiggy…Marilyn and I are gonna get you out of here…” Winter smiled at the familiar voice. “Dude…she’s fading fast…”
“I know,” Winter forced her eyes open as she heard Marilyn’s voice close by and gazed with relief up at him…until she saw the dark figure of her kidnapper looming over them all, another knife glinting in his hands.
Winter couldn’t make a sound, couldn’t scream or whimper or warn of the coming danger as she heard her attacker’s voice. “Don’t you wish you’d never found her?”
A tear slid down Winter’s cheek, the last thing she saw before her world went dark was Marilyn’s face hovering over her and the sound of a gunshot…and then there was nothing…

All Winter could hear was the annoying buzzing, whooping, and bleeping, of hospital machines as she found her way back to the realm of consciousness…and Lacey and Marilyn arguing. Winter smiled slightly as she opened bleary eyes and spoke in a soft groan, “For once in your lives,” her smile grew when they jumped and looked at her. “Could you leave each other alone?”
“You’re awake…” Lacey murmured then threw herself on Winter, hugging her. “Don’t ever do that to me again! I could kill you!”
“It’s not like I had much choice in the matter.” Winter’s smile faltered when she saw the bandage around Marilyn’s left arm. “He…he hurt you…”
“Hmm?” Lacey looked back at Marilyn, still staring in shock at Winter. “Oh, nothing serious. Barely a nick as far as Marilyn’s concerned…at least… that’s what he’s been saying these past several days…” Lacey looked from Winter to Marilyn and nodded. “I’ll, err… I’ll go tell the others the good news…”
Marilyn barely moved as Lacey brushed past him, his voice barely more than a whisper as the door to Winter’s room finally closed. “I thought I’d lost you…I thought…”
“It’d take more than that.” Winter smiled as he came to sit on the end of the bed and she took his hand in hers. “You saved me. Nothing else matters to me but that…” Winter’s thumb rubbed circles into the back of Marilyn’s hand as she continued. “And now the tour can finish uninterrupted…”
“Ah, yes, the show must go on…” Marilyn smirked. “And so will you.”
"Yes..." Winter smirked slightly. "Shall we tell everyone then?"
"Tell them what?" Marilyn frowned past a smile as Winter chuckled.
"That we're...Born Villain..." Winter bit her lip as she laughed at the look on his face.
"Cheesy." Marilyn nodded before carressing her cheek sweetly. "But, yes..." he winked before pressing his lips to hers once more. "We are..."
