The sky was dark that night. And the only light we had was the 3 moons shining brightly on us in the mountain peak of Mt. Dread.
The mountain was rich in gold and other minerals. But the dragon guarding it was hoarding it to itself. Aside from that, the said dragon was eating the farmers' cows. So the townspeople decided to post a quest for it to be slain. And that's how we got into this situation.....
....
..
.
The 80 ft' dragon roared at us.
"This is our first dragon slaying quest. Are you scared?" Gallen asked me. His smile can still be seen underneath his helm.
I replied with an awkward smile.
"Just cast your spell behind my shield and you will be fine." He said.
"And I have you have me here from the back." Franzine, the high elf ranger said as she loaded her crossbow with her anti-dragon arrows that I casted spell earlier on.
And so, I did. I trusted my party.
Whilst casting my spell, he parried the dragon's tail with his huge shield. Gallen withstood the blow, as he kept his feet at the ground. He did not move and inch. Franzine used this opportunity to rapidly barrage the dragon with her crossbow. She hits its head as she jumped away from it.
The dragon breathed fire towards her. The ranger can't get away from the flames that is about to toast her alive as she is in mid-air. Gallen quickly threw his shield toward the high elf, hitting her stomach but saving her from the flames. Franzine threw up blood as she got both of her feet at the ground.
"Is that all you got, Gallen? I guess humans really do get old quickly." Franzine laughed as she threw the shield back at Gallen.
"I'm only 27. I'm still on my prime, mind you."Gallen said as he caught his shield.
"Meteor Fall!" I exclaimed.
The sky has opened and the summoned meteors by my spell fell one by one. I knew that this spell would be very effective because of the dragon's size. Bathing on falling meteors that I summoned, the dragon roared from pain.
Dust and silence covered the whole mountain peak.
"Did that killed it?" Gallen asked.
Then the dragon flapped its wings and flew on the air.
I ran out of mana on that spell. I took a mana potion on my bag, but the gust of wind made me lose my grip as it fell on the ground, the bottle broke as the potion watered the grass on the mountain's peak.
"That was my last potion." I shouted because of the loud noise that the dragon's gust was making.
"My arrows won't work on this wind." Franzine said.
"But my sword will." Gallen jumped against the wind, his holy sword in hand. He screamed and aimed for the head. The dragon flew towards him, its feet first.
It pinned him down the ground, claws gripped tightly on Gallen's body. He shouted in pain as he felt the dragon's weight above him.
"NOOOOOO!!!!" I casted the only instant spell that I know, Fire Ball towards the dragon. But as expected, I only wasted the few mana left on my body with the fireballs that I continuously threw just to get the dragon's attention on me. But the dragon didn't mind me nor the fire balls.
"Get off of him!" Franzine fired her arrows on the dragon. The dragon replied with its tail, throwing her on the ground killing her.
"STOP THIS!!!" I screamed.
The dragon then blew flames on Gallen, burning him alive.
Gallen, the one that I loved and Franzine, my best friend.... They died.
And all I did was watch it happen.

"Elaiza, wake up." A faint voice said. "You're the one who took the mission on the pub and yet you're the one who's still sleeping. Breakfast is ready."
"Did you just say 'breakfast?'" I jumped off my bed as I forgot the bad dream that I just had.
"Geez, Xinthia might eat everything on the table, ya know." The half dwarf and half high elf said.
"No fair, Gretz." I ran towards the dining table just to see the human eating almost all of the food on MY dining table.
"Fuck you Xinthia, save some for me, you lousy ranger." I said as I sat next to her and started eating my share of pancakes.
"The first dragon that wakes up early eats the fresh meat first." Xinthia said as she devoured her strawberry drizzled pancakes.
"Hey, no fighting over the food that I made. I still have some more where that came from." Gretzel said.
"You guys know what; I just had a bad dream." I said. "And I forgot about it when I tasted Gretzel's pancake."
Gretzel and Xithia smiled at me.
"Don't worry, we won't leave you. Though this human might die in a few decades." Gretzel smiled.
"Yeah, human's life expectancy is just 80 years or something. But yea, you'll have me for a few years more." Xinthia said.
"So you still have, what, like 20 years more?" Gretzel teased.
"Excuse me, I'm only 18." Xinthia exclaimed.
"That's what you said when we first met. And that's like, 10 years ago!"
"FUCK OFF YOU MIDGET ELF. YOU'RE SO SMALL YOU'RE ONLY HALF ON A HIGH ELF!" Xinthia laughed at her own joke.
"OH YEAH, AT LEAST I LOOK LIKE 12 YEARS OLD EVEN THOUGH I'M ONLY ON MY 80'S!"
This is my new party now. This is my new life. Except that I'm not an adventurer anymore....
I'm a mercenary.
