River Song lifted her torch higher, letting the flame's light flood the entire room. She was in a Catholic church that was old and boarded up, but River could tell it had once been beautiful. There were marble arches 30 feet high and 12 chandeliers in rows of four scaling the ceilings. The roof was a faded turquoise and the walls were emerald. It was the perfect place for the King of Vampires' tomb. River shuddered, not many things scared her, but she still didn't like the idea of a hungry vampire waking up and sucking all her blood or hypnotizing her into being his immortal slave. Still, she had to go to see Dracula, the Doctor was mortally ill and Dracula was the only one who could help. This kind of illness was one he couldn't regenerate from.

"Doctor!" River screamed, searching frantically around the dark cave. They had arrived at the planet Ranomni, the fourth planet in the Isiorisi constellation, for a spelunking trip into the Ranomni caves, which were rumored to glow and dazzle when you reached the bottom. River had wanted to see the family of Grostungles living at the bottom. Instead all they found were a tomb of Ranomnian vampires. They had awoken and began to chase the couple, who eventually had to split up. River stunned the vampires chasing her and went to find the Doctor. Terrified, she maneuvered through the dark to find the Doctor and so they could leave. She might be able to shut the Grostungles in as an added bonus.

River heard a soft moan and ran towards its source. "Doctor!" she cried as she knelt down to him. He looked exactly the same except his skin was paler and his shoulder had been bitten. "Oh dear..." River gasped. She knew Timelords couldn't become vampires of any kind, but a bite was poisonous to them and if they died from one, the Timelord wouldn't and couldn't regenerate. With the added strength people seemed to get in a crisis, River easily picked up the Doctor and was lucky enough not meet any vampires on her way out. River made it out and warned all the Ranomnians of the Grostungles' awakening.

River rushed the Doctor to the TARDIS and laid him on a bed that he usually made for his companions. She ran back to the TARDIS main controls to search for a cure. A few agonizing moments later, the TARDIS had found an antidote recipe. With a sigh of relief, River read the antidote recipe, her relief quickly fading when she saw the ingredients list.

"Oh you've got to be kidding me!" River sighed exasperatedly. The only cure was to mix blood from the king opposite to the type of vampires that bit the Timelord with a kind of berry found only on Gallifrey. Luckily, River was notified that the TARDIS already had a small supply of the berry, (although she has no idea how it had lasted that long; maybe plant stasis).
