Anastasia speed walked into her building. It was raining hard in the city of London, England. She tried to cover her head with her hands, but it was a fail attempt since the little rain drops went through the spaces between her fingers. When she finally made it to the building she was completely soaked, but she gave it no importance at all; she wanted to be the fastest possible in her apartment. She gave a little greet to the door man when he opened the gates of the building, and a thank you afterwards. She straightened her dress as she pushed the elevator's button and waited for its doors to open. She kept on thinking about how and when will she buy the Christmas gifts, she hadn't bought the gifts and Christmas was round the corner.
She was thinking that giving her cousin a book was a lame idea when the elevator's doors opened and she got in. she felt the elevator stop moving in the 5th floor and a couple climbed in. well, that's what Anastasia thought since they had their fingers intertwined and they kept staring at each other adoringly. She looked at them dreamingly. She usually daydreamed of her having a boyfriend or someone to talk freely, to cuddle. She missed the affection. She snapped out of her daydream when the elevator dinged, signaling that the elevator had stopped on her floor. She walked out of the elevator and reached into her purse, looking for the apartment keys .when she was standing in front of the principal door, something cached her attention: a white envelop without a return address. In the front of the envelop elegant letters read Anastasia. The curiosity got the best of her and she ripped the envelop open.
"Anastasia,
It has been a long time since the last time we saw each other. It was really hard to find you, and I know it was because you are hiding from me.
I don't blame you, in your eyes I'm a monster.it seemed easier sending a letter than talking in person, a way of saving a fight for another day. I know u might be thinking I'm the biggest double-face person on earth but I want you to know that I'm really sorry about your mom, I mean it. There is not a day in which I don't think about my errors, and what I did to you and your mom is the first thing I think on when they ask me what the biggest mistake I have made is. I was a coward and I am sorry I really am.
Anyway, I know that your mom told you that I send a certain amount of money for her to pay your studies. Truth is, I tried to send her money for you guys to pay the food and services but she wouldn't accept it and I could not do much about it. I thought about sending it to you but I knew better, you were still upset and angry with me. You wouldn't accept it either and you will probably hate me even more for trying to contact you.
Your mom once told me that if anything happened to her, I should take care of you. She told me that she wanted us to create a bond and that the problem we had was between me and her, so you shouldn't be involved.
Love, you are just 17 years old, you can't leave alone and you are still not legal which means you cannot get a job, at least legally. I know you are using your savings. That money won't last more than 2 or three months, that is if you use it correctly. You still cannot be by yourself, you need an adult. And, even if you want it or not I'm your father and I love you. I love you more than anything, I am serious. You are my baby girl. Please believe me when I say that I cannot stand the fact that my daughter hates me and that everything that has happened is my fault.
Please come home. Just this Christmas, give it a try. I know I can't really call myself your dad but I want to regain that title. Just come for a week, you will meet Karen and the twins. They are great and I know Karen will love to have you here. If you don't like it or if you can't stand it then...I will send you to your aunt, Miranda. Please give me a chance to make it up for you, and after all it was one of your mother's last wishes.
I'm willing to make-up but... are you? Please, call me.
Love,
Dad.

-Dad...- she whispered as she finished reading the signature. The letter slipped out of her hands. Her arms and legs felt numb, it became difficult to breath, her heart gained speed and some heart-beats skipped. She felt the blood leave her face and she started shivering, but it wasn't the coldness that got these reactions out of her.
She felt like everything was slowly falling on her and crushing her. Why did he write that letter? Did he really how much she disliked him? He left them. He left her. How dare him try and help her out? She just couldn't process any of what she just read. Too many thoughts were clouding her mind and it was hard to think clearly. She wanted to cry so bad, someone to hold her while whispering sweet things in her ear. She wanted her mom back. She felt lost; she didn't know what to do.
She took a big breath and got herself together and picked the letter up. The only thing she knew that she needed to do was getting inside.
She grabbed her key while shaking and opened the door. After the door was closed, she walked into the kitchen and slowly felt into her knees. She did the only thing that came into her mind, the only thing that she had wanted to do since the machine that registered her mom's heart-beats, stopped. She cried.
