"I'm sick of this!" I screamed throwing my papers in the air. I had been up all night working on this stupid paper for English class. The three cappuccinos and the Mountain Dew I drank did not help me focus at all. I threw herself on my bed and began to sob. The paper was supposed to be on my professor's desk in five hours and I still had fifteen more pages to write.
"I'm so tired." I cried. "I just want to sleep."
When the tears stopped flowing, I rolled on my back and stared at the ceiling. The clock tower in the middle of campus struck four. BONG...BONG...BONG...BONG!
"Violet, pull yourself together. It is 4am right now. You only have five hours to finish this paper. You can do this."
I stood and picked up the papers on the ground.
"Okay." I said sitting back down at my desk wiping the tears from my face. "Where was I?"
Five hours later, my paper was finally done. It was 8:50 in the morning and I had only 10 minutes to get from my dorm room to my English class. ALL THE WAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF CAMPUS.
"Better put my running shoes on." I grabbed my backpack and ran out the door.
"Excuse me. Sorry. MOVE!" I yelled as I ran through the crowd of people trying to get to their morning classes.
"Hey, Violet! Did you finish your paper?" Chelsea waved.
"Sorry, Chels! Don't have time to talk. Running late!"
"I'll take that as a yes."
I passed the clock tower and looked at the time. "Ugh! 8:55! I'm almost there."
I could see the English bulding up ahead. "After I turn this paper in, I am going back to the dorm and sleeping the rest of the day." I was still running and thinking about sleep when I tripped over something.
"Ouch!" It yelled.
"I'm so sorry." I said picking up my papers that were now all over the ground. "I'm in a huge hurry and I wasn't paying any attention. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Here, let me help you."
I could tell now that the "thing" I tripped over was a boy. He handed me my papers and looked at me. Man, he sure does look familiar. You would think I would recognize those piercing blue eyes. Hmm, oh my gosh! What time is it? I looked at my phone. 8:58!
"I"m sorry, but I really have to go. Sorry for tripping over you!" I don't think he heard my apology because I took off running towards the English department mid-sentence. He yelled something back, but I couldn't make it out. Oh, well. I literally threw myself into the department door and ran up the two flights of stairs to my class. I burst through the door and slammed my paper down on the desk just as the clock tower struck 9. I stood there heaving as my professor turned around in her chair to face me.
"Miss Jones, right on time. Congratulations."
"Thank.....you." I managed to say between breaths.
"I'm going to grade the papers over holiday, so make sure and check online for your grade."
"I will. Happy Christmas!" I said as I headed to the door.
"Happy Christmas to you too." She answered.
I decided to take the elevator since I was still out of breath. By now, everyone was in there classes and the campus was deserted except for the few students straggling. A gust of wind floated by and I cursed myself for not throwing on a jacket. I just wasn't thinking.
"Home sweet home." I said as I unclocked my dorm room. Laying on her bed eating a bag of Doritos was my best friend Chelsea. I met Chels my freshman year of college. She was my roommate and the first friend I made since the accident. We've been insperable ever since.
