Aaron

I walk into my room and throw myself on my bed. I am fed up with her. She takes all my hard efforts for granted, and she can't even confront me without at least meeting my gaze. All girls fall for me. ALL of them, except her! Why do I have to like her out of all the girls in school which like me? why am I making this so difficult for myself?

I pick up my phone, I go to contacts, find her name, and as my finger hovers above the delete button, I get a second thought.

Why should I anyway? I mean, I need to show her now that I'm over it and that I don't really care anymore. She's making me feel quite bad but deleting her contact will just show her that I am angry at her, and that I still do kinda care. I switch the device off. I won't delete it, but I won't try to get her attention anymore, and I won't text or anything.

That night, I have a dreamless sleep.

"Hey Aaron, you coming to the school dance tonight?" Jamie offers as we take the bend in the road.

"I don't know." I answer

"Man! You've got to loosen up! forget about that other girl Kiara, besides, there are plenty of other fish in the sea. Some distraction is exactly what you need."

I look at him. I know he's right, I should forget about her, but the problem is, well, I can't. Maybe the dance was a good idea.

"I'll think about it."

-----------------------------------------

I walk into the vast hall in my jeans and T-shirt. Jamie's waiting there for me.

"Good to see you man! I knew you'd come."

The hall soon became more and more packed with students and the atmosphere turned static. Bright lights started flashing in the half lit room. Sweaty bodies jumping to the deafening beat the stereo players were giving off. And I was loving it. My clothes are wet with sweat, but I don't care. It feels great to have a moment where you literally don't think of a thing and you start feeling happy from inside. Soon the party songs were converted to those slow ones, and I saw girls and boys pairing up. I felt like I could see Kiara everywhere. In the corner snogging a boy, her hands running through his hair, or her dancing in the spotlight, staring deeply into the pure eyes of someone who was worth her, she made it clear it wasn't me.

"Hey Jamie, I think I am going to get a drink." I yell above the blaring music. In reply Jamie gives me a nod.

I step out of the hall and as my eyes adjust to all the light I crash into someone.
