Elvis woke us up early and told us to pack our things we were going to my mama's house. I got up and pulled Charlie out of bed. He stood up and put his arms around my shoulders and smiled. He kissed me and stumbled to the closet. I grabbed my suit cases. I gave one to Charlie and kept one for myself. We all packed. Me, Elvis and Charlie of course. Red mentioned something about Sonny and Sivle at Mama's and Elvis wanted to be with her there. Elvis told all the guys to enjoy themselves in Hawaii. Elvis was wide awake but I was half asleep and Charlie was almost sleep walking. I rode in the passenger seat. Elvis was driving. He had chartered a private plane.. All that was left was to board.
Charlie went right to sleep when we got on the plane. I stayed up and talked to Elvis about anything and everything. He was very religious. He talked about god and the after life and a bunch of stuff. I got him started on his movies. He wasn't too happy.
"Colonel Parker has been running me ragged. He's got movie contracts lined up and before I'm even done with one movie I'm working on another." He sighed.
"Sounds like a pain in the ass." I added.
"Yea and I think most of the movies are the same thing over and over. It's ridiculous and repetitive and most times makes me sick to my stomach."
"My boss Norman hasn't got me a movie contract or a single gig. But then again, I haven't been in Memphis in a long time. He's spending time with his kids." I sighed.
"Maybe colonel will let you make a movie with me. That would be cool." He smiled.
"Yeah. Colonel likes money thought. He would have me pay like fifty thousand dollars to have you in one. I can't afford it." I looked down.
"Yeah." He added.
For the rest of the time we played monopoly and other games. I did some magic tricks with cards and such. I was good with cards. I also told him some stories about when my dad lived in Louisiana with us. He thought my stories were neat or at least he seemed to act interested. He told me about his mama and how sweet she was. I told him I wished I could have met her. I would have liked her. He told of how he used to be dirt poor and his trials and how his dad had went to jail for altering a check and he seemed spiteful of this. I told him not to be spiteful as his dad was just trying to provide for his family and felt cheated out of the hog.. I went on to tell him of how I also lived in Memphis when I was younger and I had gone to Humes. He said that I was probably there after he graduated. We indulged in some Ice cream and continued to talk and laugh.
After a while of talking and being full of ice cream he nodded off to sleep. It was nice to have someone else to speak to besides Charlie. I love Charlie and all but I need to talk to other people too. I had Joe and Sonny and now Elvis. Great. Mission accomplished. After some thinking I nodded off myself...
When we woke up we were in Louisiana I smiled and woke up the guys. Charlie sprung up and fell out of his seat. Elvis woke up easily. We went out to the airport I had Elvis Hidden He was turned around facing a wall and Charlie was being like a little body guard.
"Can I borrow a dime." I looked at Elvis.
"Yeah sure but why?" He handed me a dime.
"You'll see." I picked up the phone and dialed mama's house. I was hoping Joey picked up.
"Hello?" Joey picked up the phone.
"Joey! It's Elinora. Get in my car and bring it to the air port I got some friends with me and none of them have a car and I ain't takin' no cab." I said playfully.
"Yes ma'am!" He said happily.
"K bye!" I hung up and I looked at Charlie. He smiled and we all went outside.
