I'm sitting waiting for my orders as I hear cannons and gun shots discharging in the woods. I'm just thinking of who I love. I still can smell the cherry pie
my mom makes for me after a hard work. Our camp is just mud and bodies piled in a big stack. I don't know what is going happen as long as it doesn't happen to me. Our regiment come and get us to gather our gear. I'm just a young farmer boy but I'm going to do this for freedom. We started to get into formation as we walk into the woods. As we are getting our orders a bullet files and hits our general in the neck. We saw the Yankees coming up to us and our Sargent yelled "FIRE AT WILL!". Bang!Pew! We had all the bullets flying past our faces. Then a loud bang went off then a soldier was split in half form a cannon ball as blood flies on to my face. I couldn't see anything until I heard "RETREAT!". I turned around and took a shot into my hip and fell. I could see the union charging onto my position. I knew I could stay here and die or try to get out. I made a grateful decision. I started to craw into a ditch and made my way into the thick brush as I could see my other wounded fellow soldiers be stabbed and shot. I laid down next to a log waiting for the morning to come. The new day had awaken. I stood up and fell in pain as I ripped of a stick and made it as a waking stick. I started to make my ways around the trees as I looks down I could see my wound it went right threw my body but it was still bleeding. I took off the arm pieces of my shirt and turned them into a bandages to stop the bleeding. I wrapped it around me and I could see smoke in the distance. I counted my chances and started making my way to it. I saw a confederate soldier. "hey, help I'm wounded!".Nothing. He just sat there and didn't move. I went up and shoved him. He fell over and had a musket in his chest. I looked up and saw our camp destroyed and burnt. Agh! I Yankee jumped on top of me and I shoved him on the ground. He was wounded also. I hit him in kicked his wound and grabbed the rifle in the dead soldier. "Please work." I said to myself. Then....Bang! He looked at me into my eyes and fell on the ground. I reloaded the rifle then I would start to look around.
