[MICHAELS P.O.V]
11 days before
The next day work wasn’t the same. I was hoping to see her beautiful face again, but no sign of her. I had to expect it, i mean not everyone will be a regular here but i had some hope, some hope i would see her again, so i could ask for her name and maybe ask her out.
So, like every day, i worked my 8 hour shift with a fake smile plastered on my face. Even if i tried to forget, i couldn’t. The way her eyes twinkled when she smiled, how her naturally plump lips moved when she spoke, it sent me into a frenzy that i can’t get out of. I clocked out a bit later that day, normally I’m the first out, but today something felt different. Even if we only briefly talked, i felt like the day dragged on, without her presence i felt a lot gloomier, something about her just made me feel better.
As i stepped out onto the street the winter wave of cold hair hit me like a semi. I immediately wrapped my coat tighter around my tall pale frame. The walk to the tube was worse. Everything seemed worse without a smile on my face. It’s like our small encounter has changed my life for the worse. I let my mind become clouded with all of these thoughts, sending my bad mood into overdrive. I felt a smaller body crash into mine, and i was in no mood to talk to anyone let alone someone who is so careless to throw their self into me. “Listen, look where you’re going ok, I’m in no mood for this right n-“i was cut of midsentence when i saw her beautiful face. It was her; she was her, right in front of me. And i was a dick to her! Why the hell did i do that, I’m so damn stupid. “Hey, I’m so sorry i didn’t kn-““its fine Michael, seriously it was my fault; i should have looked where i was going” she cut me off while placing her small hands onto my bicep trying to calm me down.
“You know my name” i said in disbelief, i couldn’t help the smile that crept onto my face. “Well yeah, it was on your name tag” she spoke sheepishly; i could faintly see the small rush of crimson creep onto her cheek. “Now it’s my turn to blush” she said pointing to her check while giggling. My heart fluttered at the small noise that erupted from her mouth. God, even her laugh is perfect.
“So, as a payment for your slight discomfort just then, would you like to grab a coffee with me?” a small smile played on her lips as she spoke, a little glint of hope in her eyes showed that she wanted me to say yes as much as i was thinking it. “Well, it’s 10pm, I’m not sure a lot of places would be open..” her smile dropped just at this statement but quickly rose again as she thought of an alternative situation. “How about you come to mine and get a coffee? I mean it’s about 10 minutes on the tube and i would feel much better knowing i paid you back?” A smile arose to both of our faces then and there; i guess coffee isn’t so bad after all.
15 minutes, and a crowded train journey later we were walking in silence down a darkened street, the only source of light was from the street lights and the faded light peeking through the curtains of people’s houses. There was a tension between us, as if we were both waiting for one another to spark up a well needed conversation. I glanced over in her direction for a brief moment; her beautiful features were glowing with the light streaming on her face. I don’t even know how someone could be so beautiful; i mean you see models in magazines, but the amount of editing they have done to them. But right in front of me i have the most beautiful creature i have ever seen, she doesn’t need the make-up on her face, she just needs someone to keep that beautiful smile on her face.
As the minutes passed, we turned down a few streets here and there before coming to a stop at a big house, a few of the rooms were emitting a small amount of light, just enough to see shadows moving behind them. She must have caught me staring “There my housemates, being in uni, i can’t afford my own house and the student accommodation was full” she looked slightly sad, but to me it sounds fun. Uni must suck, but not having to live near the hell hole must be amazing.
We walked along the drive and she quickly unlocked the front door before shouting a quick ‘I’m home!’ she took the lead as she walked into what i am presuming to be the living room. There were 2 sofas and a big TV hung on the wall as well as a coffee table in the middle. Pretty good for a shared house i must say. On one of the sofas there was what seemed to be a couple watching a movie that projected onto the TV screen. The girl looked about 17/18, she had black hair with streaks of red cascading down. She was wearing black skinny’s, a black t-shirt and a oversized red and black plaid shirt. There was also a guy, blonde hair styled into a quiff, black skinny’s and a Green Day shirt, he was cuddled up with who i am assuming to be his girlfriend. “This is Luke and Alexis, but you can call her Luxo.” She said referring to the couple on the sofa. “Luke doesn’t normally stay here, only on weekends. The perks of not living on Uni grounds” Luxo said while giggling.
“Oh, and I’m Rebecca, but you can call be Becky” She spoke up again. Her name really suited her personality, but completely clashed with her style. “I’ll show you the other rooms” Becky said and took my hand leading me upstairs. I couldn’t ignore the feeling in my stomach as her small hands grasped onto my much larger ones. Once we reached the top of the stairs, she led me into one of the rooms. “This is my room, just across the hall is the bathroom, the room on the left is Calum’s room and there is a spare room” Becky told me while taking off her shoe and sitting down on the edge of her bed. She patted the spot next to her while smiling up at me. I took a seat next to her and she lent her head on my shoulder.
She sighed and then fell back onto the plump mattress and pulled me down with her. Just as quickly as she was on the bed, she jumped back off again and grabbed a photo frame off her desk adjacent to her bed. She jumped back on the bed causing her to erupt in giggles and for me to laugh at her child like behaviour. She handed me the frame and it was a picture of her, Luxo and 3 other people. “This is Calum” Becky said pointing to the Asian looking guy. “And this is Holly and Alex, they go to the Uni too but they live down in Ealing. I immediately recognised the 2 girls; they were the girls who came to my work that day with Becky. They were all pushed together with drinks in her hand with bright smiles on their faces.
“This was the first time we met, it was this party some of the first years were holding at Uni, Calum knew a guy who could get us in. It was for people in that dorm only but who cares” she ended her sentence with another giggle, God i could hear here laugh all day, it’s like music to my ears.
I noticed many band posters on her wall, i immediately recognised a few as All Time Low, Pierce The Veil and of course, Green Day. There was another framed photo on her desk, she saw me staring and brought it over for me to take a closer look. It was a photo of her and Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of Green Day. He has his arm draped around her shoulder and she has the biggest smile on her face. “Wow” i said and looked over at her, her smile could tell she was still ecstatic about the events. “November 1st 2009, they played a secret show in London, i was lucky enough to score some tickets, it was the best day of my life” She looked at me and i swear my heart burst then and there. She wore the brightest smile and i knew that smile could make my life better as long as i saw it everyday.
She quickly scurried over to a bookshelf and pulled out a photo album, and chucked it in my direction. I stuck my hand out buy the album hit against it and fell to the floor. She looked at me for a second before bursting out with laughter. “Smooth” she spoke with a chuckle before handing it to me. I opened it and it was full with concert photos and pictures of her with band member, i can tell she is proud. The first page had a picture of her, Calum and Jack Barakat from All Time Low, they were all pulling silly faces and Jack was kissing Becky’s cheek. “He signed my shirt that day” I looked up at her to see another award winning smile on her delicate face.
I knew then and there this is where i wanted to be, i wanted Becky to be happy, and i wanted to provide that happiness.
