"It's not what it looks like" said Emily as she stared through the glass at the boss. Next to her sat Ellie. Her leg jumping up and down and up and down and up and down. It was a nervous thing. Their orange jumpsuits were about two sizes too big for them making them look like giant baby grows, keeping their feet warm.
"Well what does it look like?" Boss exclaimed. Ellie and Emily looked at each other nervously. It seemed as though they were in a lot of trouble so the truth may not be the right way to go at this particular moment. It was Emily who spoke again. Ellie didn't trust herself.
"When we say it's not what it looks like we mean it's not what it looks like underneath so it looks like what it is but it's not."
"What?" He asked.
Mission accomplished. The Boss was confused.
"It's a very complicated story about very misunderstood people" Ellie explained, her long blonde hair falling slightly over her face. Dark blue eyes trying to tell the boss that it really wasn't their fault this time. Emily nodded her head in agreement, the blue tips on her hair swishing from her ponytail as she did.
"Tell me" said the Boss.
Uh oh they thought, looking at each other. Telepathically communicating that way that best friends can. The plan was to confuse the boss so that he wouldn't ask any further questions about what actually happened. Mission failed.
"Well... we got time..." Ellie stated. Maybe they could distract him from the whole story.
"No no no," Boss interrupted, "from the very beginning"
Maybe not.
Ellie and Emily looked at each other. They weren't going to get out of this so they might as well get it over and done with.
With a sigh they turned back to Boss. At same time, they started the story
"Well..."
