Chapter Two: "Whatever You Say, Princess."
AFTER MACE HAD LEFT, I went to the spot where Jeremy would normally wait for me, except he wasn't there today.
I waited, but he didn't show up.
Then my phone pinged, notifying me of a text from him.
Jeremy ❤:
Can't drop you home today. Sorry, babe.Frustrated, I started typing a reply, when I bumped into someone really bad.
The books and folders in my hand clattered to the ground, the papers all over the floor.
"Watch it," I said, at the same as the other person said, "What the fuck?"
I bent down to pick my things up.
"You gonna help me or not?"
Muttering curses under his breath, he started to help me with my stuff.
I randomly shoved things in the folders.
"Here you go," he said, handing me the last of my stuff.
There was no denying that the person in front of me was good looking. In fact, good looking was probably an understatement.
He was super attractive. He had hazel eyes, which had flecks of golden in them. He had a sharp jawline, and his face was clean shaven.
My eyes travelled down his body. He had an athletic build. His shirt hugged his toned, muscled body in just the right places.
I looked up to see him still holding out my stuff.
"Th-Thanks."
A smirk appeared on his lips.
"Like what you see?"
I felt heat the heat rise up to my face.
"W-What?"
Really, Ellie? Could you be a little less obvious?
I pretended to focus on stuffing the textbooks and folders in my bag.
"Just now. You were checking me out."
Okay, I confess he looked hot with that smirk, but it was starting to annoy me now.
"Was not."
"Sure, whatever you say, Brownie."
"Excuse me?"
I admit I have tanned skin, but that's just racist.
"Your hair. It's chocolate brown. Reminds me of brownies."
"Oh."
I started walking out of the parking lot.
He followed me, but then stopped in front of his car, which was a black convertible.
"You gonna walk home?"
"Yeah. My boyfriend couldn't drop me home today."
"I see. You need a ride?"
"Yeah."
He opened his car door for me, and I got in.
We drove in silence.
I didn't even know this guy's name, and I accepted his offer for a ride. What was wrong with me?
"Yeah, this is where I live," I said, pointing towards my house.
"Ah, we're neighbours then."
"What?"
"That's my house," he said gesturing towards his house.
Oh, so that's where I remembered him from. Hailey mentioned him today.
His name was Sam, I think.
Uh no.
Shayden? Shane? Sean?
Yeah. Sean.
Sean Myers.
"Thanks for the ride."
"I couldn't just leave a girl all by herself now, could I?"
He actually had the audacity to wink at me.
I snorted. "Yeah, right."
"See you around, Brownie."
"I have a name, you know that, right?"
"Whatever you say, princess."
"Idiot."

"Guys, I'm home," I said, walking inside my house.
The aroma of blueberry muffins wafted up to me.
I went to the kitchen, to see my mom taking out a fresh batch from the oven.
"Ooohh," I said, reaching for one.
"No, they're for the neighbours," she said, slapping my hand away.
"Come on, Mom. Just one?" I pouted.
"Absolutely not. Go get changed. We're
visiting our new neighbours. They moved in yesterday.""Fine," I said, grabbing my backpack from where I had left it on the counter, and heading out of the kitchen.
"Oh and, El?" my mom called.
"Yeah?"
"Wear something nice, would you? Preferably a dress."
