Kate's POV:
I awoke to a pain in my side, indicating that the pain killers had worn off. I got up going to the kitchen and took my pill with a glass of water. "Well hello there sleeping beauty." Worrick walked out of his room. Alex and Nic are out on an errand, I'm actually about to head out but could I ask you something?"
"Yeah sure what's up?" I asked going to sit on the couch and cover myself with a blanket. "Last night, when I woke you up, you called me Wallace. Why?" His usual playful and friendly smile fell. His face and body language completely serious as he sat beside me.
"I'd say he was a boy I knew, but I never spoke to him. I was about 10 when my mom became a Mercenary, she ended up talking her boss into giving me a job as a maid and he assigned me to his son. I hardly saw him though. He spent a lot of time in the library or with a body guard, that and I was ordered never to speak to him." I remembered seeing the young blond walking through the halls with a new book all the time. He kept a huge stack of them in his room.
"You worked for the Arcangelo family?" He asked. Then his eyes widened slightly, if I hadn't been looking I wouldn't have caught it. My face revealed my confusion. "I never said he was from the Arcangelo family. How did you know that Worrick?" I almost growled his name, knowing that he was hiding something, he knew something I didn't.
He laughed and put his hands up defensively "I've seen a kid in the paper, people say I look just like him. His name is Wallace Arcangelo." I squinted my eyes. I didn't believe him but I'll let it go for now, besides I've got nothing except a feeling that he's lying.
"You really freaked us out last night Kate, do you do that a lot?" He looked concerned. I sighed. "I'm going to assume that I was twitching in my sleep." I rubbed the back of my neck. "A lady I roomed with a few towns over said that I did it and it scared her at first. I do it when I'm having a bad dream." I looked down, trying not to give everything away.
"I mumble in my sleep, I didn't even know until Alex told me when she'd come in to check on me the night before we saw you at Doc Theo's." I smiled, I wasn't the only one. "Thanks." I told him.
"Tell me something about you, I mean you know quite a bit about me already, anything will do." I said with a questionative tone as I looked up at him. Worrick leaned back on the couch. "Hmm well I'm a gigolo, but it's not really a secret. Oh I hate pears and expensive cigarettes, they just don't have the same flavor as the cheap stuff." I smiled. "Well thanks Worrick."
Worrick told me he had to go work and then he'd meet up with Nic and Alex and come back here, he also was persistent about me staying here so I wouldn't get into any trouble or hurt my wound.
"Screw that, I've got spying to do." I laughed at myself because I wasn't stealthy normally but I was going to figure him out, something just didn't seem right. Why would he care about Wallace? Why'd he react the way he did after he said Arcangelo?
I headed out looking like a bum, but luckily you couldn't really see the blood stain on Nic's shirt because it was black. I eventually made my way to Granny's after taking another painkiller.
"Back so soon?" She grumbled out glancing up from her newspaper. "Miss me?" I smiled. "Hey Granny, do you have a copy of the newspaper that talks about that Arcangelo kid?" Worrick mentioned it was in the paper and there was a picture that people said looked like him.
"Yeah the paper boy tossed me two, here keep it." She said and waved me off. I wanted to stop at one more place before my painkiller wore off. I was already in pain even with the medicine. 'Maybe Worrick was right, I need my rest' I shook the thought off. I could rest when I got back damnit.
