My eyes felt heavy as I tried to open them. Every part of my body was aching from head to toe. I groaned, trying to wake up and get my mind working.
Where am I? I thought to myself. I couldn't remember anything.
The room was dark and cold. I felt around feeling nothing but concrete. Panic was setting in. I did the only thing I could think of. I screamed.
"Help! Someone please help me! I don't know where I am!" I screamed into the darkness.
As if on cue I heard a door open and was blinded as light filled the room.My eyes burned and I heard a voice.
"Welcome home, sunshine."My mind was racing as my eyes adjusted to the light. I stood up and turned around towards the light seeping in through the open door. In the door was the outline of a man. He was tall, probably a little over 6ft with a medium build.
I took a step forward only to be pulled back by a restraint around my ankle.
"Who are you? Whats going on?" I asked, my voice quaking.
"Here, eat up." The man slid a plate towards me, completely ignoring my question.
"Please, I just want to know whats happening I cant remember anything!" I pleaded.
The man only sighed and turned away. Hesitating in the door way. Every part of me was hoping he would turn around and explain. Instead he just closed the door, plunging me back into complete darkness, scared and alone.
As my stomach growled I reached out for the plate, unable to find it amongst the darkness. My hand finally landed on it and I pulled it towards myself, trying to distinguish what food it held. I pushed my hair back and rubbed my temples, trying hard to remember what happened, anything at all. The last thing I remember was leaving Violets house to go home. I remember walking up to my car to find it unlocked which was odd because I never forgot to lock it. I know I got in to start driving, but I didn't make it that far, everything else is blurry.
Tears began to well up in my eyes. Why is this happening to me? I looked down at the plate of food I had been given. Now that my eyes had adjusted I could see a sandwich and an apple. There was no way I was eating anything that man made for me so I grabbed the apple and took a bite. I thought to myself as I ate. I will not be one of those people who doesn't at least try to escape. Around my ankle was a pair of handcuffs attached to a short metal cord which was attached to the wall. I yanked on it a couple of times, hoping to find a weak spot. Nothing.
I began to cry again and as I did I just started to scream. I screamed at the top of my lungs for anyone who could possibly hear me. My throat hurt with every yell, but it was worth it.
"Help me! Please my name is Harper West, I've been kidnapped! Help me please!" With every word I yelled louder.
I was sobbing and screaming an pulling on the metal cord attaching me to the wall, trying to make as much noise as possible. I stopped to catch my breath and heard loud footsteps pounding through the house above me. I cried harder as I scooted myself into the corner, pulling my knees to my chest.
"Someone please help me, hes going to kill me! Help me please!" I yelled.
I got one more scream out before the door swung in with a bang, causing me to sob harder. Once again I was blinded by the light. Before my eyes could adjust to see what was happening, I felt a hand grab my arm. I began thrashing and screaming even louder.
"Get away from me!" I kicked and punched towards the man, "Someone help me! No!"
The man grabbed my wrist as I tried to punch him and twisted it behind my back. I yelping in pain, another sob escaping my body. He grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him. His face was close to mine and the room began silent as I stopped struggling. All you could hear was the sound of both of us breathing heavily. He was young, maybe late 20s with a strong facial structure. I looked him dead in the eyes and did the only thing I could think of. I spit in his face.
He wiped his face on his sleeve and squeezed my face even harder. I cried out in pain as he twisted my arm further behind my back.
"You're gonna wish you hadn't done that, sweetheart." And in one swift motion he brought his fist across my face in a hard punch. I felt my head whip back and my face hit the cold concrete beneath me and then everything faded to black.
