This is erosion
Hunter sat quietly at the back of the library. He couldn't even sit in the canteen anymore. Not around him. It was just, slowly chipping at his mental health. Sitting there, watching the two be happier than Hunter could ever even dream of making the other.
Grinding up rocks with you molars
He listened to the playlist him and his ex made together. All the songs sending an odd amount of uncomfortably through his body, even making him shake slightly. Running his fingers across the table brought him back to reality, the feeling of the rough service with all its carvings and symbols.
A big fish swims past your rod/You can't catch it, it's far to fast
Hunter looking up from his sketch book. Just in time too. Nate and his new boyfriend, Jared, walked past the large window of the library. The two boys were walking fast, as if they knew Hunter had noticed them. A sigh left Hunter's lips, thinking about the way Nate's dirty blonde hair covered over half his right eye. His beautiful aqua blue eyes. The eyes that almost made Hunter's heart skip a beat.
Deep hook marks in rubber lips
Bit by bit, the school day finally ticked down to an end. Sketchbook clung to Hunter's chest as he watch Nate walk out the other doors. His lips turning into a smile as he talked to a new boy. The new boy. The boy who replaced him. Hunter stood there, love struck, for a couple of seconds as he imagined how the other boys lips felt against his own. Those stupid, soft , cherry-red lips.
I see your eyes in the flowers
Hunter opened the door to his house. He walked through the living room, into the kitchen and out the back door into his garden. He sat his bag gently by the door before making his way over to one of the flower beds. In of which, were grow roses of different colours. Red, white, pink. Blue. Just like Nate's eyes. The soft aqua.
I'll pick a bunch for your room
His hands delicately picked out a couple of the roses. He walked back to the door, picking up his bag and opening the door. Once he got back inside he went back upstairs. He held gently onto the roses before stepping into his bedroom. The sap green walls that matched his eyes were covered in photographs. Some even including Nate.
Green and blue to match your pictures
Hunter set the flowers down on his desk. Bending down, he picked up a green vase with small daisies painted on them. Once he filled it with some water from a bottle on his desk, he set the roses inside. He opened up a drawer under his desk were freshly picked herbs laid, untouched. Gingerly, he picked some up and placed him in the pot, spaced and moved around ever so carefully to make sure they looked their best.
You looked so good in green
Reaching up, the small boy took down one of the photographs. His eyes studied Nate and his outfit. His shirt, the shirt Hunter loved. The shirt Hunter always told him to wear. He used to listen. The boy probably threw it out now. Or let Jared burn it. Stupid pyromaniac.
I hope you're well
Gradually, the night came in. Hunter sat on the floor, photos of him and Nate scattered around him. Looking up, he noticed his clock ticking. As soon as he noticed the time he muttered out a soft curse, moving over and turning off his light. He laid in bed but he couldn't help but think about Nate and how well he took the break-up. Well obviously, he was the one who broke it off.
