FROM PARIS TO MILAN; Aphrodite Smackle had worked relentlessly for years in order to establish her multi-million dollar company, APHRODITE BELLA, as one of the up-and-coming faces in the fashion industry. She graduated early, earned her numerous degrees, did horrible internships, anything to be who she was today. She's at the very height of her career, having designed countless of this year's Met Gala gowns for the theme: ' Heavenly Bodies'. Most notably those of Rihanna; Sarah Jessica Parker; Lana Del Rey; Zendaya; and Cardi B. She has been based in L.A. for many years and has gotten used to her hectic schedule, only ever having the company of her assistant/best friend, Love Evergreen.
And just when she thinks everything is coming together, she receives life-changing news. Her parents, who had disowned her ten years prior, have been killed in a car accident while on vacation in upstate New York, leaving her with sole custody of her now 14-year-old sister. She is completely unprepared for these new responsibilities. For God's sake, she can barely care for herself. Her own assistant has been looking after her for years, and now she's been told she'll be in charge of her estranged sister, whom she hasn't spoken to in a decade.
Aphrodite packs her belongings and returns to New York City, alone and out of place. She must plan a funeral, relocate her business, and rediscover what it means to have a family. The famous New York socialites Apollo and Alexandria Smackle have been killed, and their disgraced daughter has finally returned to the Big Apple, according to the paparazzi. They will go to any length to get their shots, including chasing Aphrodite into a Greenwich Village Bakery as she tries to flee the cameras.
This escapade through a bakery alters her life; in the end, she will discover true friendship, what it means to love, and what the meaning of life is.
