As the rain and hail stones pelted the stained glass windows of the church, the sombre atmosphere was so thick it could be cut with a knife. The cries of the mourning people could be heard. Emily Davison was normally a buoyant and radiant character and was commonly known as Tristan Black's best friend. She usually wore vibrant colours and an enchanting smile; but today her attire was reflecting her sullen state of mind
People wondered why Tristan's sister, Carrie Black didn't appear even an ounce more unhappy than Emily, but her face was expressionless. Her countenance conveyed pure prejudice against the congregation. She wasn't one to be prudent in emotion, but felt compelled to expound.
Gradually during the course of the ceremony , she began to shrink into an enferior state and her soul began to feel submissive to the pressure of the others. She began to recall the times where Tristan spent lavishly on her even though they did not have an abundant amount of money. Her eyes were stinging as tears threatened to fall, she could not allow others to see her in a weak state. Her resolution was to not succumb to indulgence.
As the congregation dispersed, the nave of the church became empty she fell to her knees in agony and let out a spine chilling scream as it dawned on her that her brother was gone. Suppressing her sadness for so long had evoked her anger. Her sadness subsided as her anger ignited. Anger is the protective mechanism that conceals sadness, which is the explanation to her anger overtaking her sadness and becoming the predominant feeling behaviourally, cognitively and physiologically when she made the conscious choice to take action. She was ready to wreak vengeance on Emily.
Emily was on her knees sobbing in the chancel. Carrie scoffed at Emily's snivels.
"What makes someone like you think that they have a right to mourn their victim's death?" Carrie raised her voice slightly and a scowl formed on her face.
Emily looked slightly surprised and taken aback; a perplexed expression formed on her face.
"victim's?" Emily questioned in confusion.
"Why do you look so confused? It's as if you didn't partake in my brother's death and had nothing to do with it whatsoever! You bitch! Who do you think you are cosying up to my brother and then ripping the life out of him?" Carrie's screams were echoing throughout the empty church.
"I never wanted death to come to him. I never meant for him to die." Emily whimpered.
"That means you intended for him to come to harm even though I overlooked your idiotic ways and you promised me that you would protect him. I specifically told you that I'll terminate your friendship if any harm comes to him because of your needs. But now it's too late to terminate it ,because you got him killed. HE DIED BECAUSE OF YOU! I HATE YOU! I'LL BE THE ONE TO KILL YOU!" Carrie shouted, before pouncing on Emily. Carrie kicked her in the ribs until Emily began coughing up blood.
Carrie was suddenly pulled up by the priest. "Oh dear child. There must be an evil spirit lurking around you or maybe a demon has possessed you. I'll perform an exorcism on you and then concoct a mixture to abolish any possibility of evil spirits getting control over you." The priest began to blabber before Carrie ran out of the church.
The rain poured on and the further Carrie ran the darker the sky got and the more tired she was. She was panting and screaming hysterically as she fell to the ground. Screaming in pain and anguish and cried her eyes out.
