Chapter  four

                She woke up because of the ringing of her phone. She recognizes it as her Skype ringtone. She tried to get up to get the phone. But there was something heavy in her waist. Then she saw the sleeping image of her Boss. OH yeah! She remembered after the kiss they cuddle in her sofa and she fell asleep. She looks at her wall clock and it said 8 p.m.

                She slowly lifted Martine’s arms. But he just hug her tightly. And what shock her most that he whispers to her.

“Stay still Jaye.”

“Ahmmm. But someone’s calling me.” I reasoned out.

“That SOMEONE can wait.” HE said in a husky but irritated voice. Emphasizing the word ‘someone’.

“But that’s my Skype ringtone for my family. It can be important.” She told him matter-of-factly.

He looked at her for mere seconds estimating if she’[s telling the truth. The he release her. She releases her breath that she holds while he’s looking at her. She get her phone at her bedside table and see Louise’s name.

“Hey Louise.”

“Ate!” She screamed. (As you remember ate is a Filipino word for big sister or an older girls :D )

“What on earth Louise?!” She said on authoritative voice.

“AHH. Sorry. I’m just too excited.” She said and laughs. “Where’s your video, btw? I can’t see you” she asks. She look at Martine. Who’s listening to their conversation. He raises his right eyebrow. She pouts. Then he get up and position himself at the back of the phone. Facing her of course. Then she put it on video call.

“So what are you nagging about Mari Louise? its better be good.”

“Ohh yeah. You’ll be shock. Naalala mo si Ate Camille Villarus? Yong classmate mo sa High school noon na sunod ng sunod kay kuya Archie na nanligaw sayo ng napakatagal?” (Do you remember Camille Villarus? Your High school classmate that been a stalker to Archie, whom who court you for so long?) “The one who eventually became your best friend, because-“

“Yeah. Yeah. Of 1couse I know her. What about her Louise? I don’t have much time.”  She cut her off.

Louise make a sour face. “KJ ka talaga. (Your kill joy, really.) Well magugulat ka. (You’ll gonna be surprise). Guess what?” She smile widely.

“Why, Louise?”  She said in a bored voice and look at Martine. His eyebrow is in one line. She raise her eyebrow to him.

“Well, They’re getting married. OMG!” She squeals.

                She was stunned and surprise of course. Archie swore he’ll never get involve with Camille ever. But who knows right?

“Really? How’d you know this and I don’t?” Now she’s disappointed. Camille was her only best friend. Maybe her only close friend besides her sisters, so was to Camille, she’s her only best friend.

“uhh—duhh! Sino kaya tong hindi nag o-open ng Fb at email?” (Who’s the one who don’t open her FB and email?) Then she realize she really didn’t open the net if not for work or study purposes.

“Ohh. So how’d you know?” She asks.

“Well Kuya Archie is one of my professors. And he told me, you should open your FB account. Coz ate Camille send you every details. And she needs you here next month if ever. You’ll be the Maid of honor of course.” (Kuya is a Filipino term for Big brother or an older boy.)

“Ohh.? All she can said. She really misses her Philippine life, family and friends.

“I gotta go, I have class at 9. I have test and I’m gonna study first. Bye . I miss you so much. I love you. Take care.” Louise didn’t wait for her response and end the call. Yeah, such a respectful younger sister.

                She take a deep breath.

“That was cute.” Martine said with a big smile. “You know. I want to learn your language.”

“Why, was that?”

“So that if I go in the Philippines and meet your family. I won’t be left out.”

                Shock. She just look at him questionably. AGAIN? SAY WHAT?
