Let Me Hear You

PROLOGUE

"Gifts".

Some people have them and some don't. These are innate abilities acquired by one's ancestors that have been passed down the family line. Their existence dates back as early as the Dark Ages (some, earlier); where mere mortals often sacrifice all that they have (sometimes, even their lives and souls), to unknown beings just to acquire them.

Throughout history, people have been using these Gifts in various ways for their own advantages. Some succeeded, but some had their lives taken from them by society. Purges, characterized by witch hunts and false accusations led the majority of these bearers cornered.

As time passes, these Gifts where then called 'Stigmas' and the bearers who managed to escape the culling survived and thrived in the dark. They are all around yet their existence are only known by some and accepted by only a handful.

One such bearer of these Stigmas was Mallory Pryce.

Her Stigma wasn't necessarily powerful, but the application of it has been her family's way of living for centuries since her ancestor made the first contract to obtain it. She hates it, but she's learned to live with it. She has to admit, it sometimes drives her crazy though. Her Stigma more or less has a beautiful side to it, but the realization after the awe had its drawbacks.

Every so often, she would fire up her laptop and click on any random videos on YouTube that would her better use her Stigma. Somewhat of a training if you will.

The fifth video in was what seemed to be an 'ASMR Role play' video. She's seen and heard a couple of them in the past. She can't really say anything about these types of fads, she doesn't have any interest in a lot of things really; even so, she clicked on it and started to listen.

She then noticed something different. Her Stigma didn't show up, and that rarely happens.

This intrigued her. She started listening more and more to this channel's content. 'Fantasia Vocal Arts' was managed by a guy named 'Nixon'. According to the information she dug up, he's a voice artist that mostly does 'ASMR Role play' videos, acting as voice for numerous fictional characters. Nixon's content ranges from innocent love confessions to the listener, to mature content that may as well be a factor of 'auralism'. His fan base mostly consists of girl's ages 12-28 years old. Which is in a way, alarming.

Unfortunately, she couldn't find any sources to help her know what he looked like. He mostly used the character's picture as the thumbnail for his videos and claims to be an amateur vocal artist. So chances are, one can't even find Nixon in the line-up of fairly famous voice actors.

Well, it's not like it poses a problem for her.

Sooner or later, she will find fault in his content. Her Stigma hasn't failed her yet, so it won't fail her this time.

She then proceeded to click on his next video.
