The Art of Stealing

Chapter One.

"Lani!" my best friend Caitlin squealed as she made her way to the back of the classroom.  It was our first day of junior year, and the first time we had seen each other all summer, since she had spent the vacation with her dad in North Carolina. She took a seat in the desk in front of mine as our homeroom teacher, Mr. Bale, walked in the room.

"Good morning class, I'm Mr. Bale.  I hope you're all looking forward to this year!" he said.  I could picture Caitlin rolling her eyes at him.  As Mr. Bale started to tell us about himself, the door opened and the principal walked in with some guy hidden behind him. 

"Mr. Bale, this is Arthur Shaw, a new student," Principal Colins said. 

"Haha, Arthur.." someone snickered quietly.  Mr. Bale gestured to the empty desk beside me and Arthur turned to make his way down the aisle.  I glanced up at him and his eyes met mine.  And wow, he was cute.  His eyes were the green of sea glass, and his lips were a color Maybelline wished they sold.  The summer sun had left him tan, making his blonde faux hawk look even lighter.

He looked away quickly and took his seat.  Principal Colins left and Mr. Bale went over his classroom rules with us before we were dismissed to our first class of the day.  I glanced at Arthur as I stood, and he looked down at me.  I bit my lip and studied the floor as I made my way out of the classroom.  I found Caitlin and we walked to algebra together.  "So, that Arthur guy's hot," Caitlin said.

"Yeah.." I had to agree.  We sat together in the back and waited for Mrs. Morrow to assign us our textbooks.  As soon as the books were issued we were given an assignment.  Even though i had to help Caitlin with half the problems I managed to finish by the time the bell rang.  Handing my work to Mrs. Morrow, I made my way to health class. 

Taking a seat in the back of the room as usual, studied my schedule.  I had gym next.  Oh, the joy.  When I looked up again, there was an extremely hot tan guy with blonde shark fin style hair sitting beside me.  I bit my lip and looked down at my schedule again.  "Good morning class!" Mr. Henderson boomed, "Welcome to health class.  Before we get started, I'm going to assign you all a partner that you will have for the entire year."  Great, I thought.  I looked around the room and saw a couple of my other friends, but Caitlin wasn't in this class with me. 

"Lani Shane, you'll be with Arthur Shaw."

So, I really hope you guys don't think this is stupid so far.  It's the first story I've published..  I'll post more.. Tomorrow, maybe?  Read on, readers! :D
