When I got to the quad with my crappy school lunch, I looked around for Caitlin but she wasn't there. Sighing, I dropped my bag on one of the stone tables and took a seat. A minute later, I looked up as someone dropped their try beside mine. "Hey, partner," Arthur said with a half smile.
"Hey Arthur," I said, returning his smile.
"It's Art," he said.
"Art?"
"As in, painting. Art."
"Gotcha."
"Good. So Lani?"
"Yeah?" I asked, swallowing a bite of lukewarm pizza.
"Are you smart?"
"I consider myself to be, yes," I laughed.
"Good. Because F's and I don't mix."
"Then I guess we'd better get started on that project Mr. Henderson kept going on about then."
"Okay.. We can go to my house after school, I guess. I'll wait for you in the lot."
"Well, my car's in the shop.."
"Then you can ride with me."
"Oh, okay." I looked up from my lunch tray and Art smiled at me. Wow, he was cute. I smiled back, then I stood up to go to my next class.
