Words Cut Like Knives

Chapter 5

           Ali and I were moving. Well, actually I didn’t have much of a choice as I was, uh, asked to leave my current flat. Apparently blasting music and having a dance party at three in the morning is frowned upon in that community. Ali decided to move in with me where ever I moved to, since her lease was up on her flat.  Anyway, there is an upside to this whole thing- we are moving into the same building as the boys.  I think Niall was the most excited, but that might be because we can cook for him more often now.

            “So, Becca,” Ali started as we packed my stuff into boxes, “Niall and I were thinking about going public…” I looked at her. We both knew how crazy the fans could get, so until now we kept things on the down low.

            “Are you sure?” I asked skeptically. 

            “Yeah. I’ve thought about it a lot and I think I’ll be okay. I don’t have a twitter, so I’m really not worried about getting any hate.” She shrugged.

            “Okay, well it’s your decision,” I said and we went back to packing up.

            “So, Liam…”

            “So, Becca.”

            “Where, exactly, are you taking me?” I asked him. We were being driven- in a limo much to my delight- to some unknown location for our first date and I was dying to know where it was. But would he tell me? Nope! He just told me to wear something formal. So here I am, wearing a pleated, blue, one-shoulder dress with a long sleeve and a black belt, on my way to the mystery date. (Becca’s dress in the side bar) I gave him my best puppy dog eyes, hoping he would cave and tell me.

            He smiled at me. “Sorry, I can’t tell you. I want you to be surprised!”

            “I’ll act surprised if you tell me now…” I tried. He just chuckled and shook his head. Finally, the limo rolled to a stop in front of… a school building. I shot him a confused look.

            “Come on,” he said, helping me out of the car. He took my hand and led me inside, steering me towards the doors to what I figured was the school’s gym. I gasped as the doors were opened for us by two people dressed like butlers.

            “Wow,” I breathed, smiling like an idiot. The walls were lined with Christmas lights and there was a table in the center of the gym covered in a white table cloth. I stepped ahead of Liam into the gym, taking it all in.

“So do you like it?” Liam asked watching my reaction nervously. “I wanted to do something completely different, you know? I thought maybe you would like something like this. Oh, gosh. We can go somewhere else if you wa-”

“It’s perfect.” I turned around to face him. “It’s absolutely perfect.” I don’t think he could have smiled any bigger. My heart melted, knowing that I made him smile like that. All I wanted in the moment was to see that smile every day for the rest of my life. He gently guided me to the table where a dinner was all laid out. How did I get so lucky?

“Oh, um, there’s one more surprise.” He smiled when we had finished eating, and gestured behind me. I heard the familiar guitar chords and turned around to see a stage behind me. I almost screamed when I say who stood up on the stage.

“Ed Sheeran?!” I asked Liam, turning to face him. “How did you know he was my favorite?”

“Ali told me,” He said sheepishly. I smiled and hummed along as Ed sang “Kiss Me”. I moved my chair over so I was next to Liam and had a better view of the stage. I happily laid my head on his shoulder, his arm around my waist.

 Kiss me like you wanna be loved.

 I looked up at Liam and brushed my lips against his.

 This feels like falling in love.

This moment was perfect; I wished I could stay there forever.

I’m in love now.
