The pups had been working hard. Since it's summer time, more people go swimming at Adventure Bay, which means more water rescues and double the hours on life guard duty. Well, in Adventure Bay that is. You see, the paw patrol were the only force of justice or rescue team for the next two towns over. Which means they would have to keep watch there as well.

"Look out!" Shouted a voice. Chase snapped his head to towards the voice, only to be met with a hit to the face with a beach ball. He let out a grunt of pain and shook his coat, getting rid of the sand.
"Sorry there Chase.." Marshall mumbled nervously. He peered down at the Dally from his life guard chair and chuckled before grabbing the ball and throwing it back at him. Sending him flying back as it hit him, square in the face.

"Silly Marshall, I've got to keep watch up here!" He rolled his eyes and shook his head, earning a laugh from the other two pups with him. "Oh shut up Chase you know you love me!" Marshall responded slyly smirking up at him. The german shepard felt blood rush to his cheeks.
"Hmf." Was all he could say before turning back to the blue ocean.

It glistened in his eyes, sparking small waves of comfort over his body, the sound of the ocean toppling over the sand sent him to a dream like state. But the scent, his sense of smell was already amazing, so the saltiness of the sun soaked sea sent him over the waves. It felt good to relax, after all, he had been working for three weeks straight. All of them had. He succumbed to the feeling of relaxation and let the sound of the beach take him further out to sea.

But as they say, all good things come to an end.
His pup tagged beeped and his eyes snapped open, the once feeling of serenity drifted out with the tide.

"Paw patrol to the Beach Tower!" He spoke. They looked at each other and nodded. Ryder needed them.

---

"Sea patrol ready for action Captain Ryder Sir!"

Ryder clicked his screen, playing a small animation of what appeared to be Mayor Humdinger.
"Mayor Humdinger was driving his boat out to sea when he swerved and crashed his car and his boat, sending him off a cliff and into the ocean." gasps were heard throughout the room and worried glances were shared between the canines.

Ryder scrolled through his device and stopped at a green shield.
"Rocky, I need you to help patch up the Mayor's boat and car."

"Green means go!" The mix breed replied.

"Skye," He continued stopping at a pink shield, "Search for the damage, I'll take it from there."

"Let's take to the Skye!"

"Sea patrol is on a roll!" And with that robo dog put the sea patroller on full speed.

The sun shone brightly into the small dog's eyes, earning a tired groan of annoyance from the brown lab. He opened one eyelid, flashing his beautiful pools of honey to the world. He gently stood up, stretching out his aching muscles whilst yawning simultaneously. Then whimpered a little, lifting his back paw and balancing on three legs.

There was no other choice, either fall and be miserable or suck up the pain and walk on the injured thing. The pup, with a limp, walked out of the patches of trees and gleamed at the pretty sight in front of him. The ocean never failed to amaze him. The smell, the sight, the thrill he got from swimming in it. How he dreamed of doing it once again. But those times were now just distant memories of his lost happiness. Two years. Nearly two whole years of being alone. No one was there for him and he truly started to believe it.

He limped closer towards the ocean, those pools of honey becoming an ocean themselves. It was fascinating, he knew the sea would never let him down, even on days like these. He cherished the moment, the warm soft sand between his sore paws. With no where in mind, he set onto the road up ahead. The pavement burnt his paws. It didn't bother him though, the pup has obviously done this sort of thing before.

Silence drifted into his ears, his legs walking on their own. The dog mindlessly walked along the pavement, the sun beaming straight onto him. The road then turned into a cliff that went straight off into the sea. Not long after he had been walking he heard sirens wailing, he turned to see two dogs. One driving a truck and one piloting a plane. He stopped dead in his tracks.

"That's strange," He thought. "I've never seen dogs do that." He looked at them with curious eyes, dogs driving anything was weird to, well, anyone. He sure hadn't seen anything like it. He sat at the edge of the cliff and watched something that blew his mind even more.
One of them turned into a boat. He wagged his tail in delight as he watched this story unfold.

Before he could even comprehend what was even going on, a young boy riding a white jet ski which had once been an ATV, came and assisted the strange pups.

"This isn't real, is it?" Nothing like this had ever occurred in Shell Shore.

---

"Ready Ryder?" Questioned Skye.

"Sure am, send down the harness now, it's all ready." Her tagged beeped as he ended the chat. Lowering the harness for Ryder to take under water. Which he then gently wrapped around all the debris from the Mayor's Car and boat, both annihilated in the crash. His hands moved quickly as the waves above him were getting stronger. Once he positioned everything nicely, he tugged at the rope, letting her know that it was ready.

Rocky waited patiently with the Mayor on his truck. He shivered as the thought of water sent chills through his veins. It terrified the poor creature. It wasn't his fault though. He didn't wanna stay a minute longer. Ryder was sure taking a long time. Speaking of, where was he?

"Ryder? Come in Ryder." Nothing. Plain static rang through his tag. Worry flashed through his eyes. He saw how big the waves were getting, he was just praying that it would die down.

"Skye, have you seen Ryder?" The small pup looked closely, but saw nothing from where she was. Her eyes glossed over and concern was spreading like a disease. They both tried contacting him, but to no avail.

Skye started barking and calling out his name, pure fear dripping with every word coming out of her mouth. Mayor Humdinger, who was returned to shore, watched with a look of pity for the two.

Their tags picked up only static. Something was wrong and they needed to act and fast. The waves were getting really rough. They swayed Rocky's boat. He carefully placed his paws on his boat and stood up, looking over the edge. The ocean waves made him sick, but he needed to see Ryder okay.

Skye enhanced her googles, looking everywhere for the boy.

"S-sk-kye?" Her ears perked up and she answered almost instantly.

"Ryder! What happened?" She was panicking through the chat, she wanted to say more but knew that speech was limited.

"Y-you-ou a-and R-rocky stay there. I-i'm fine." A long beep cut between them. Her eyes widened and she tried calling out for him after that.

Rocky heard the entire thing from down below and the waves were picking up heavily. Stay there? Was he insane? He needed to get out and now!

He was infuriated, but his fear stopped him from helping his precious owner. It had been five minutes. Five whole minutes and Ryder still wasn't up yet. Although he had a gas tank, a mask and wetsuit, he was still under there for longer than needed.

The pair didn't know what to do. They looked at each other and hung their heads low. They knew they had lost him. Tears pricked both of their eyes.
"The boy that cared for us, loved us, spent every moment with us knowing that we could all die. Is gone. They all knew that this would happen. But now? And so suddenly?"

Seven minutes now. The pups anxiously waited.

"That's it! I'm going in." Rocky prepared to jump off, he looked at the water, then back at his green vehicle. Then to Skye.

"You don't have to Rocky, please, please don't leave me as well, don't leave us." He could hear the desperation laced in her voice. He was indeed terrified of the water, but right now, Ryder needed them.

He took one deep breath and place his paws on the side of his boat once more, looking at the rushing water. The waves tossed his boat, he steadied himself then crouched down, took a deep breath and..

A splash was heard. He felt droplets of water splatter onto his grey fur.

He hadn't even touched the water yet.
