It was late, during the end of the summer solstice. There were several storm clouds looming over the night sky making it dark, dissipating the light from the alignment of the suns, planet and the moon, turning the sky an ashened red. The trees greatly swaying from the force of the wind. Howling through the streets, alleys and broken windows. All families were stuck in their houses, afraid to go out in the summer storm. Most were hiding in their cellars, praying for it to pass quickly. Two families were not so lucky though.

The mothers of the families were both in labor, something in this land called a solstice blessing, as it is said that babies born on solstice will have great power and abilities. The mothers were not doing well though, for the doctors were not able to arrive at their houses till later hours. Forced to have a home labor, the fathers and doctors did what they could to sanitize and comfortize the mothers. Their screams could be heard houses down, even over the raging wind. As the storm breaks, and the rain hails down, lightning strikes. The thunder shakes the very ground upon which they stand.

During this season, the night only lasts 6 hours, the day lasting 20. Making the night hours very important for rest, that is if your not in one of the warring states, almost all are at war. The solstice festival has brought peace for a short time here in Albany.
