**Parker Adam's POV**
"Dude, you ready for this tourney?"
"I'm ready to kick some serious butt, if that's what you're asking." I respond with a slight smirk. I turn to grab my ball bag out of my trunk and I hear Emmett snicker behind me.
"When do your parents arrive?" Emmett asks when we start walking towards the field.
"Tomorrow night. Sucks they have to miss the first game, but it's pretty much just a scrimmage anyway."
When we step onto the turf I know this is where I belong. On the field playing the game I've been playing for so many years.
"Annalise is sick, right? She isn't coming?" I throw the bag onto the ground and starts putting on my shin guards.
"I convinced her to jump into my parents' car to come watch."
"Oh, sweet. You're so lucky to have her. She's like an 11 out of 10 on my scale."
"Bro, eyes off my girl." I wink at him, knowing he's just joking. He sends back a smirk.
"Can't help myself." He starts saying some other stuff but I tune him out. It's probably about the cheerleader he banged last night or the hot model he saw at the club yesterday.
I start thinking about Lee for some reason. What would I do without my parents? They have to find schools for him, get benefits, pay bills, wow. Lee is quite the handful. I love him to bits though.
"Hey, Parker, wanna go to the club tonight? Last night before the tourney officially starts."
"Uh, sure. I'll stay sober to make sure you don't screw up...too hard..."
"Gee thanks. Ever since you started going out with Annalise you haven't been partying and getting drunk like before."
"That's because when I'm drunk I forget about having a girlfriend."
"So? What if you screw some hot chick, it's not like she's ever going to know." I roll my eyes. Obviously he's never been in love.
"I love Annalise. This isn't some friends with benefits or fling. She could be the one. In fact, I think she is the one." I look up to see Emmett's reaction, but he has his eyes closed and is pretending to snore.
"Oh sorry," His eyes spring open. "You're sappiness put me to sleep."
"Shut up." I stand up and grab the ball Emmett was juggling. Enough of this. Let's get to practice."

"Hey babe, I just wanted to let you know that I can't wait to see you play tomorrow! I love you!" Then there's a kissy noise. Her voice is kind of weird because her nose is plugged. I love her so much. Unfortunately, she's gone.
I keep replaying the message, just so I can keep hearing her voice. I'll never delete this message. I'll never move on. I'll never forget her.
"Hey!" The familiar voice calls out from somewhere in the apartment.
"Hey, Emmett." I choke out.
"Parker, Lee is here." I gasp slightly and close my eyes tight.
"Alright."
His voice fills my room like a song. A sad song. The last song. "Hi, big bro."
I don't say a word.
"I know. I feel you."
"What do you want, Lee?"
"To spend some time with my big bro, of course!" He sends me a half-smile.
"Shut up and go away."
"Really, Parker?! Are you that selfish?! You aren't the only one who lost loved ones, okay? They were my parents too, and I'm mourning too. You don't need to push me away! I'm your BROTHER and I'm in the same pain you are! Stop being such a selfish BABY, and be grateful that you still have a brother!" Lee's face goes from confident to embarrassed once he realizes what he said.
"I'm sorry."
Disbelieve fills his face. "That's it? That's ALL you have to say?"
"What do you want me to say, Lee? We both lost our parents and I lost my girlfriend. We're never going to see them again. Do you want me to say everything's going to be alright? That would be the biggest lie I've ever heard!"
"I want you to say that you'll be here for me. That you're glad not everyone died in that car. That we'll get through this together."
"I can some that all up in 3 words, Lee." I take a second to stop myself from shedding tears.
"I love you, Lee. I love you."
